Crouse has been underwhelming tonight to say the least through 2 periods if you look at him as a potential top 6 pick.

He had 1 play where he was right in front of the net and tipped it high and wide.

Aside from that, very few signs of his offence. Strome has completely outshone him.

On the defensive side of things he's been pretty good stripped the puck from McDavid in period one and then in the second period on the penalty kill he made a bodycheck on the last defender resulting in a breakaway for Kingston.

He's made some really good plays tonight. His potential is a 30 goal scorer in the NHL, that's why he's consistently rated from 6-10. Scouts have been watching him since his minor midget days, I would trust their opinions over any in this thread. Someone compared him to Kassian, Pouliot, Kyle Beach etc, the difference is his Hockeu sense, none of those guys had it in juniors. The hate he gets is pretty funny though.

Then why did they still go 4th-13th overall? All these guys weren't drafted a long time ago.

If scouts couldn't foresee Kassian, Pouliot and Beach's future, then how would it be any different for Crouse now?

At 6'3 and 200+, I'd expect more than 0.70 PPG from a guy with good hockey IQ. His size alone should allow him to dominate his peers, which he isn't doing.

There were 21 guys who scored 30+ goals last year. It's a lofty total.

The only way I see him scoring 30 goals in a NHL season is if he plays with a dominant playmaking center and another really good winger. Like the Giroux-Voracek combo.

All this people complaining about him not scoring enough are a great example of why you don't listen to people who only care about the scoresheet

Plenty of players who score plenty in Junior never end up having any impact in the NHL. Plenty of players get exponentially better once they get the attention of an NHL team's staff in terms of trainers.

Now I've never seen him play, like most on here (and anyway, how players practice is probably just as important than how they perform), but enough scouts say that he is a guy who has everything you want in a player that I can safely say I will laugh at anyone who says "but but but ....PPG?"

The reason why Crouse isn't a top-five prospect for '15 is the same reason why Toews isn't a top-five NHL player.

All-around game is overrated. You can teach anyone to be sound defensively, but you can't teach anyone to score goals and produce points.

I and a few others have explained this countless times, Kingston doesn't score many goals, I think 3rd least in the OHL. He doesn't have a proper centre to utilize his skill set, if Sam Bennet wasn't injured all season he would be well above a "PPG". His instincts are very well above average and he has an excellent shot. I'll reference back to minor midget and the Ivan Hlinka tournament when he played with skilled centres and did amazing. You guys can harp on his pint totals all you want but I see a 30 goal scorer that helps win games. The only argument that will come back is his point totals.

I hope you noticed I never once said he was a top 5 guy

From what I've read he's top 10 according to a lot of people

He's moved ahead of Strome and Marner.

Kid is now on a tear. We haven't seen anyone play that well since that amazing performance by Gaudreau.

This kid needs a nickname to.

We haven't seen anyone play as well as Lawson Crouse since Gaudreau? I don't know what any of this means

It means you draft him as soon as you can and as often as possible.
Don't hesitate.
He who hesitates.....

You win with these players.

Seems to be the kind of pick you definitely want in your pool and team, but not necessarily the type you take ahead of other needs. Does seem like one of those guys who gets way too inflated by a single event and then is taken way too high. Easily first round, top 15, but it's kind of crazy how high he's ending up in rankings.

I agree with you 100% He would fit like a glove with those two or others like them.

He would look so good on the Avs. I've love for them to take him and I very much think they would but he probably won't fall to them now. Sigh.

I have him floating around 10th - ish pick, not that it matter.. just thought id put that out there
