Leafs fans were also told Connor was on par with, or even better than Mitch Marner LOL

Leaf fans told rest of the world that the only Mcdavid was more talented offensivly as Nylander.... see people keep posting dumb ****....

He is not even the best player from 2014 year draft...

Why on earth would you start to compare Connor to Vatrano? Vatrano turns 23y in few weeks, turned 22y in his AHL year where as Connor turned 20y and why would you leave out his points and just go after goals?

It's a message board for one thing

I like Connor I believe he's going to be very good probably a 25 + goal too 6 but Vatrano is a better scorer

41 goals in 43 games since last year with Cassidy coaching at age 21 & 22

People have trouble wrapping their head around a high first rounder vs a UFA who even sat out age 19 working at his folks restaurant in Long Meadow and tipping the scales near 230

I would not deal Vatrano for Connor but nothing disgraceful there

That's a weak comparison. McAvoy is 4 and a half years younger than Poolman. 99% of Jets fans would trade Poolman for McAvoy in a heartbeat.

You should read the post I was replying to to understand the point I was making

A positive sign, Connor follows up a hattrick with 1+1. On a selfish note, hope he stays a rookie next season. Should be fun watching him in 2017-18.

so 5 point in 2 game for Connor? I tough he was a bust:sarcasm:

He's a bit bigger than former Habs and Oilers Mark Napier but he reminds me of him- fast and good hands, smooth and opportunitistic

I remember when the Habs signed him I was 'are you bleeding me, this is bull crap' he killed the Bruins in his few years in Montreal

If he follows that road the Jets fans will be happy

The game is trending towards his skill set should be interesting to see where he goes

Connor just turned 20y and is in his +2 year. I'm sure the Jets wouldn't even think of offering Connor for Vatrano.

He clearly has top6 potential and would expect Connor to be Wheelers Lw, maybe as soon as next year.

Looking ahead, if he continues to play too well to be in the AHL, I wonder what are his most likely line mates for him?

I don't think having to goal scorers on one line is a good idea, so Laine is not a good fit IMO. Wheeler and Little is a possibility. However, with the influx of young players in the NHL making impacts to their teams.

I can certainly see a 3rd line with Connor, and 2 young 2 way players in Roslovic and perhaps Copp. Would like to see it.

Connor and Roslovic are both developing nicely together, wouldn't surprise me if both got into the third line together as early as next year

or the people saying he was better than Marner and comparing him to Eichel were silly. Probably both.

Those were the days. "Connor is doing just as good as Eichel in college and those points translate to more points than Marner in the OHL who is playing against kids not men" completely disregarding the fact that Eichel and Marner are like 2-3 levels above in talent therefore their skills would actually translate.

It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last time that will be brought up.

It seems this is being brought up in more posts in this thread than how Connor is actually doing at this moment. I am beginning to wonder if there are more Leaf fan posts referring to the comments made regarding Connor's supposed superiority over the likes of Marner and Eichel than there were comments from said Jets fans last year stating this.

Just ignore them. These are also the same people who posted for months that Nylander was the same level of talent as McDavid. That Nylander was multiple tiers better than Ehlers and was gonna leave Ehlers in the dust in points next season and clung to Corey Pronman once ranking Nylander as #1 in one of his rankings as proof of these delusions (some still cite that Corey Pronman article like it means something lol)

It is only 1.5 years after that draft. Let's not make any definite statements this early. Let's at least wait until Connor is in the NHL. When he is put in the position that Marner is in, that as a top 6 fwd. Don't be surprised he will be a better goal scorer than Marner is.

So there were a few people in here throwing around comparisons, big deal? I'd rather talk about how he's doing currently.

Prospects get hyped on the prospect board. How about that. I remember pages upon pages in the Laine thread about how he's a one-dimensional player and it won't translate, getting shot down for suggesting he could score 30+. Look how that turned out.

Don't want to overhype Connor too much since he is still in the AHL. But I can see the Jets having 2, 40 goal scorers on each of their top 2 lines in the near future. I wonder who the other guy is...;)

But in a league that is starved for goal scorers. This will be a great advantage to the Jets, which makes them a very exciting team for the future.

Nice goal but my god does that boy need to put on some mass

I had the opportunity to meet him at a local restaurant here a couple of weeks back and yes, he's a string bean.

Conversely, Brendan Lemieux, who he was with, is a really thick kid.

I still see Connor as a 30/30 guy in his prime and there's nothing wrong with that. I'd be over the moon with a 40 goal season from him.

Connor always was the most overrated prospect here. There were people not only saying he was better than Marner because of their production in their respective leagues, but that Connor would be comparable to Eichel as well. I really can't remember the last time the hype for a prospect like Connor got that out of hand.
