what in the world?

not sure what's so funny or shocking about his post. connor could have had a 50ish point impact this year had he stuck around with the jets for the full season. the fact he is currently in the AHL doesn't mean much, he is just as NHL ready now as he was at the start of the season and had he stuck around for a bit longer he would have fully figured things out for himself. he will easily hit 50 next year if he is given a good opportunity in the top 6 and maurice doesn't **** him around.

connor will be an elite NHLer. absolutely nothing has changed.

You're telling me that the Kyle Connor you saw at the beginning of this season for the Jets is a 50 point player in this league? That's downright delusional. If he scores 50 next year that would be a great number for him even. But this year? No way.

I was gonna post something about how the last few games hes improved and hopefully for him he can do that consistantly next year in the ahl but the delusional naivly optomistic belief hed get 50 pts this year or top out at 90 points is frickin HILARIOUS

70-90 points maybe if we played a new season that went year around

i'm telling you that he was clearly getting better as each game passed and didn't need to be sent down because it would have all came together for him one way or another, AHL or NHL. once he got to the level he's capable of playing at, yes i don't think it's a big stretch to assume he could have been in the ballpark of around 50 points if he was in the top 6. and there is definitely a spot for him there, he's exactly what that 2nd line needs. perreault has no finish, connor-little-wheeler is going to be great for the jets next year. connor would have more goals and points than perreault does if he stayed up and took his spot in the top 6.

Connor needs some AHL- time. It was obvious from the start, nothing wrong eith that. Next season he will be more ready and take a spot next to Scheif or Little.

how come when he got sent down to the AHL everyone jumped for joy because he was either getting 8 minutes a night or not playing. I know Maurice isn't well liked but idk. Can't imagine the Kyle Connor I saw get 50 this year.

maurice is a complete idiot man. he can't recognize talent at all. most people were just happy to see him play hockey again even if it was in the minors. paul scratched connor about 5-10 times for no reason at all before sending him down, while even playing far worse guys ahead of him.

[MOD], but i expected connor to be performing similarly this year. he's on pace for about 50 and i see no reason why KC would be so hard pressed to do the same. i understand [mikko rantanen] played a year in the A but the only thing that connor needed to adjust to was the physical aspect of playing against stronger competition. if you didn't already notice, he continued this adjustment period into the AHL after being sent down. he only really started to turn it on as of late.

Maurice made the right call with Connor, he is so skinny and kid-like. I think he has Corey Perry potential myself, but acknowledge that he could also be a fringe 3rd liner if nothing goes right...he's got great skills and is a natural goal scorer.

so are marner and buchnevich. for some reason it's not holding them back...

it's a non-issue for a fast highly skilled player.

17 pts in 27 games in the AHL isn't that bad as some make it out to be. I think production in the AHL is so much about environment, like just look around at some stats in that league, its hard to score but here and there some great high scoring hubs are created which boost peoples stats. Good players that are not in that type of environment will have to work hard to get close to a PPG and 17 pts in 27 games isn't bad for a kid struggling to find his game playing against Pro's.

With that said, I was meaning to ask, why was Connor left of the WJCs team? Usually that is not a great sign.

I swear it's been repeated a million times that Connor was too old for WJC.

Well they are much better players than him....

Marner's easily better today, but Buchnevich has a year of development on him. Connor couldn't play in the top 6 because his defense was a complete liability which is why he slowly fell down the lineup into a healthy scratch and then onto the Moose in the AHL. There's nothing wrong with his offensive game, he needs to improve along the boards and in his own zone. Imo, a guy like him can learn a lot from watching his winger counterpart Ehlers and how he's developed into a good player at both ends of the ice. Being able to use his speed to be in the right places at the right times is something that will take time for him to learn, but I'm confident he can do it, he's a talented player.

Next year I Think both Connor and Poolparty will take the league by storm and both pass 50 points.

That poster meant he'd score 50 in the ahl if he played a full season there. Which is probably close. 45-50 is reasonable for a player like him

Edit: wow. Never mind, he actually meant the NHL

LOL

Connor has the skill to play in the NHL this season, and negative reviews of his play with the Jets early this season are overblown. The Jets had a ton of depth on the wing and he wasn't going to get enough minutes, which is why he's developing in the AHL this season (as Nylander did last season).

He's been the leading scorer on his AHL team since joining them.

He's still a top end prospect and I expect he'll show that when he joins the Jets.

Nylander could have been up last season. The only reason he spent time in the AHL was because the Leafs were a disaster and it wouldn't be wise to put that much pressure on a rookie (especially since all our veterans were injured most of the year). It was much smarter to bring him up with all the rookies together this year, even if it meant him over-ripening in the AHL.

I remember I got creamed in the preseason for comparing him to Geoff Sanderson. Still think that is a fair comparison.

Why? Sanderson was a damn good player.
Geoff Sanderson was an awful skater when he was drafted though, then he worked his ass off to improve it and it became a strength. He also had 46 goals and 89 points in his sophmore season.

Yea, but I'm not sure Nylander would have cracked Winnipeg's top 6 last year as a 19 year old.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here or not, but I was perusing hockeydb earlier and I noticed that in pretty much every year of his career (excluding his remarkable season last year), Kyle Connor has been way in in the minuses for +/-. I know we've discussed him being a defensive liability, but isn't this a little reason for concern? Also, I remember a thread last year asking who was the better prospect, Connor or Ivan Provorov. Being a Wheat Kings fan I liked Provorov but I still thought Connor was the better prospect but obviously as of right now it's Provorov AINEC.

Yeah, I didn't understand why people thought because I wasn't saying he was going to be Paul Kariya I was dissing him as a prospect.
