Pretty bad opinion. ECAC had winning records against every conference in the NCAA except B10 and WCHA, and had the 2nd highest winning percentage of any league in the NCAA last year. The NCHC had a .300 winning percentage vs. ECAC last year.
It's possible as the NHLe translation factors are from the start of the 2015-2016 season. They are going to most likely be updated for next season using this season's data. It's not an opinion, though. It's just NHLe.

Oh, and Toronto Maple Leafs had a positive record against Central. It doesn't always work like that.

How anyone can state the ECAC is the weakest conference in D1 hockey, when Atlantic Hockey exists, is absolutely baffling.

god this is getting annoying

who the hell does this kid think he is? he's already 23 and has zero NHL experience. he won't be anything special. just make your mind up already idiot

Yes, Atlantic Hockey doesn't have NHLe so I didn't actually count that at all.

NHLe would go:

WCHA
NCHC
H-E
B-10
ECAC

From highest to lowest. 0.44 for the highest and 0.23 for the lowest.

He's been a free agent for all of 36 hours. A less heralded guy like Antoine Laganiere took three days to decide between the seven teams who had courted him. There's just nothing else to report about right now, so that's why it's getting a disproportionate amount of coverage.

Albeit 85% of the main board posts aren't even about Vesey, but posters having a "my dad can beat up your dad" discussion. And another 10% are incredulous "I can't believe he's had X amount of threads" which probably could have filled up its own thread by now.

Josh Leivo is actually not even an even comparison in my opinion.

Their last season's NHLe adjusted for 82 games:

Vesey:

14 goals + 12 assists = 26 points

Leivo:

13 goals + 23 assists = 36 points.

Leivo also scored 5 points in 12 NHL games, which is in line with his NHLe. He was on pace for 34 points. Considering the amount of pro experience as well, in my opinion Leivo is a much better prospect. And even then he's for some reason not nearly as highly touted as Vesey.

Really, most people seem to only look at the best-case scenarios for comparison points. They for some reason seem to enjoy ignoring the comparisons of Vesey to undrafted NCAA players who never become pros. He was only 8th in PPG this season, in the weakest division in all of NCAA. And it's not like he's younger than his peers, either. I do not at all understand why teams would guarantee top 6 spots for a player like him. I see him as a player who can only play a top 6 role but who cannot play well enough to get it in NHL.

If he was better than I'm saying, he'd have scored much better in the weakest NCAA division especially when we consider how old he is. He barely outscored Kalle Kossila who is undrafted and as whatever-tier as they get and nowhere near NHL. Kalle Kossila also was playing in a significantly tougher division and his NHLe is much better for last season(Kalle Kossila's NHLe is 11 + 33 = 44). They are the same age.
So, in your opinion, there are 8 GM's that have no idea what they are doing.

As a Leaf fan I have an interest in adding a piece like this for free...he's been overhyped like mad though.

I don't have my hopes up, i've already kind of made up my mind that I see him landing in Boston but if he somehow signs with the Leafs I see people trashing him conveniently.

Just to follow your logic....because a bunch of undrafted free agents that were too small and too slow to play at the NHL level were busts, Vesey, who doesn't fit that category at all, will be a bust. So teams are instead better off going after an undrafted free agent that is too small and too slow to play in the NHL.

The NHL created this situation. People blaming the kid for exploring his options are being way over the top, it is actually quite ridiculous. If he didn't have to wait til August 16th to explore his options, he wouldn't be overhyped. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to pick what he thinks is the best developmental situation for him, I think it's fair to give him a 2 to 7 days to decide where he wants to go after hearing official pitches.

I think the situation is kind of silly that the rules were set up...but I don't blame Vesey. He's being smart and looking at all his options.

Oh please, should he apologize for taking a right that he has? Don't follow it if you aren't interested. Simple.

I have no problem with kids like Vesey exercising their right to choose, and take their time while doing so, but I'm surprised by the amount of attention the entire hockey world is paying to a kid who maybe might outproduce 33 year old UFA Jiri Hudler.

Wonder what the delay is? Surely he has an idea where he wants to play by now. Holding out for money, term? Anyone have any concrete sourced reports?

He really can't hold out for money or term, because there is a concrete contract max for him as for all entry deals.

This about location, opportunity and management/player fit. Since he couldn't actually talk to anyone before Tuesday, the fact that he still hasn't made a decision means nothing other than trying to filter through those non-financial variables.

Basically... Guess it is the offseason, but one fanbase is going to be extremely disappointed as he struggles to turn into a Top 6 winger.

I don't think he's going to struggle to score. My guess is that his rookie season, assuming he gets a decent amount of PP time, he is going to score 20 goals. Now he may hit the rookie wall in February since he's never played so many games but the kid is a slick player; decent size & strength, great set of wheels and excellent hockey sense to go along with it. I think he's going to have a solid career as a top 6 winger.

All these teams aren't dumb, they've been watching him for the last 5 years dating back to the World Junior team, for whom he was a key contributor despite getting 3rd line minutes for a team that won gold.

Smart, accomplished young player. And the fact that its the middle of August, that would account for the news. Can't believe that Buffalo payed a 3rd to get his rights for 45 days, dumb move.

Being 10 years younger with potential to be a core piece in the short/medium/long term might be why.... Just guessing, though.

I understand the age/contract appeal, nothing about him however screams core player to me. Lots of teams have young guys of that caliber. Though it keeps the offseason interesting I suppose.

It will be Chicago and he will magically fill in on the first line with 20+ goals. Because Chicago.
