Hah. Vesey wins the Hobey Baker and not one fanbase rushes in here to crow about it. Colour me amused.

It'll be brought up plenty by the fanbase that signs him, and those that were "in the running" but failed to sign him will no doubt post the list of winners of that award and suggest it's not that great.

That's every sports message board for ya.

Think it's about 33%.

Listened to the Hobey Baker announcement on NHL Sirius. Good for Vesey. Not a peep out here about it.

well, his father just said he would not recommend he signs with Boston to much scrutiny and pressure signing with hometown team. He must be watching what Jimmy Hayes is going thru

Toronto is smaller than Boston and has less media and scrutiny so he could probably hide there

Where did he say that?

Lol I think you forgot :sarcasm:?

Toronto is as big or bigger than Boston. Golden Horseshoe is comparable to Chicago Land.

So an employee of a rival team of Boston publicly tells a player not to sign with Boston when Vesey's rights are held by Nashville.

And this is okay somehow?

Let's just skip over the fact that the employee is also his father. Context matters.

Toronto is much bigger than Boston and as for media scrutiny, it's off the charts in Toronto.

Where did he say that?

hockey Hall of Fame writer (and one time member of HF Boards before those loveable Bruins fans attacked him and drove him off) Kevin Paul Dupont tweeted it out...he's got a bunch of tweets from the Hobey Baker from his dad the kid winning

If Jim Sr listens to the radio or reads the Broons HF Boards site he would recommend Winnipeg over Boston- and since Jim lives about 15 minutes from da Garden (I'm 18 miles and they are two towns ovah) he probably hears those Bruins fans calling in to complain all things Bruins 24/7.

Boston may finish with 95 points and if you listen to the radio they are the 0-16 Detroit Lions from a few years back

here is hoping Jimmy is like most kids and dont listen to their parents

I still stand by what Dave Starman said a few weeks back

Chicago
Boston
Toronto - he felt Toronto is the longest shot of these choices as top American kids aren't running to go play there..regardless of a brother who might never sign, and a dad NOT in upper management.

it comes down to Chicago and Boston for various reasons - Chicago has winning, opportunity immediately, and Kane, Toews, Hossa, and Panarin to play with..

Boston has hometown, likely opening as well, and some skill to play with too...but hometown pressure is something to really think about.

its a tough choice for this kid, but the Hawk are quietly hiding in the bushes right now waiting to pounce on announcing Vesey to the Hawks August 15th!

HF implodes following announcement

Given how close he is to his family I think it has to be a NY team. NYI or NYR close enough to travel without the pressure of hometown boy.

both solid choices as well and if the Rangers snag another one, that would be pretty crazy after them getting Kevin Hayes from the Hawks.

Rangers would be my guess. I am guessing they are going to point out with their lack of first round picks recently there is definitely a spot for him to grow on the roster and get alot of attention that he might not get elsewhere. They probably will use Kevin Hayes as an example of recent success.

If it came down to Rangers or Islanders I am fairly certain Rangers would play the do you think you will be viewed as a higher priority then Dal Colle on their depth charts. And Beauvillier is also a potential LW of the future who is 1 year away from being a pro. I am guessing more likely he would go to the Devils who might pitch there lack of forward prospects which makes him the #1 guy on their winger list
