LW Brennan Othmann - Hartford Wolfpack, HL (2021, 16th, NYR)

He was never going to make the team, but he was pretty weak in rookie camp and preseason. No offensive impact and took a number of penalties. Hopefully he has a good season.

 
Othmann is having a good start to the season and his pro year in Switzerland seems to have paid off. I know there are some flawed statistics out there about his draft year but the kid only really struggled with the language, that's about it.

Now back in the OHL, you can tell he's more mature. It sucks he's not AHL eligible next season as a 2003-born player (missing the cut off by 5 days) because it would be interesting to see him, Korczak and Pajuniemi form a line. That could be a very exciting combination.

I guess we have to settle for Cuylle for a year.

He’s really answering the big question with him; everyone knew he could be a highly effective complementary piece, but does he have the skills to drive play himself?

Excellent pick for the Rangers.

He’s also doing this on a terrible team. He has 27 points. Second place only has 16 points. Third place is 11 points. He has an edge of 16 points on the third leading scorer on the team in only 17 total games. Othmann has 17.8% of Flint’s points. I don’t have the stats for the full league, but I’d be very surprised if there are more than one or two players in the league that score a higher percentage of their teams points.

3 points out of first…far from a terrible team…they’ve played 3 less games than the Soo

Flint has scored 80 goals this season. Othmann has 33 points, meaning he's contributed on more than 40% of the team's goals this season.
