"Several reasons he dropped (according to several scouts I follow):
Low level of competeness, limited internal drive to succeed, pretty average skater."

Where does it say I agree with the scouts in that sentence?
By saying that people are biased who disagree with it ?

You clearly show throughout this topic you are not a fan. Don’t act now, like you are just the messenger.

How is Dach a better player then AK?:laugh::laugh: Dach had 73 Pts in 64 games and AK had 102 in 67 your logic dosent even make sense kid

Conor Garland had 129pts...Meier had 90, Barzal had 57. They were picked 123rd, 9th and 16th respectively.

It’s almost like point totals in Junior mean very, very little when projecting NHL careers?

You can use examples of this in every single draft year. Hell, Drouin won CHL player of the year in his draft year yet was selected 3rd, behind his own teammate, and has become a vastly worse player than the two picked in front of him.

As I was saying before the draft, people were putting way too much weight on his social abilities pre-draft. He's there to play hockey, not to be a PR guy.

He certainly is looking good right now. And imagine him when he learns to play some defense, too.

There may have been too much weight put on it. But teams absolutely take a look at every kid's personality and character. Teams may have been worried about how he deals with adversity

By not getting picked in the first round, team scouts are now seeing how he deals with adversity.

By feasting on inferior competition in the OHL?

Jenik is his center.....Jenik. He's scores a goal every game and a half since he entered the OHL. Glad your not a scout.....or maybe you should be!

Inferior competition that all but 3 of the guys picked in the 1st are playing against, whether CHL, NCAA or Europe?

He can only play who's put in front of him, and he's crushing it.

Can only play who's put in front of you, and he's destroying the competition in literally the only league he can play in short of the NHL. What else do you want to see?

My point was that I dont see that as dealing with adversity. Not taking anything away from him as a player

Drafted later than he should have been, forced back to the OHL, playing on a mediocre-at-best team, where a lot of prospects often sulk and don't have a great year, and instead he's improving. I really don't think there's much more a 2nd rounder can show, honestly.

What 'counts' in your book? Lot of people knocking this kid with abstractions since even before the draft, I want to see something concrete.

Clearly if 30 teams passed on him then there was something they really didnt like. You cant claim he was drafted later than he should have been less than a year after the draft lol.

So what you're saying is you have no interest in defending your stance. Got it.

I heard he dropped in the draft because when he makes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich he spreads the jelly on top of the peanut butter like an absolute psychopath instead of separate pieces of bread.

If you ask the right people, you may turn up he's a double dipper. We can't have those kind of people in our life.

Garland 129 pts was his Draft + 2 seasons thought...

Barzal had 57 pts in 44 games (1.3 ppg) - picked 9th
Meier had 90 pts in 61 games (1.48 ppg) - picked 16th

It seems their is some correlation between junior points total and nhl career to me. I don't know why you brought Garland D+2 season to prove your point.

Garland was in his D+1, and actually the same age as Meier. In Garland’s D+2 he had 128pts and out scored his next closest teammate by 63points.

Also you mixed up Barzal and Meier’s draft position...

All around just a very wrong post

Is there a point? Your minds already made up

I mean, you mocked him for feasting on inferior competition in the OHL, suggested he's not dealing with any adversity, suggested he was drafted exactly where he should have been rather than higher, and mirrored scouts concerns about some old-club hockey bullshit like personality and effort...I'm just asking you to pick a hill and stand on it for my understanding. I'm open to real criticism, but like I said above, everyone's throwing around abstractions...I literally asked you what you'd like to see from him then and you couldn't answer. I asked what counts as adversity and you dodged. My mind's not made up, your responses are just DOA or missing altogether.

Those are questions we've all been trying to answer all thread, you know? It's not personal to you. Just trying to get insight.
