I mean, was the only problem that he was really awkward, borderline weird? Cause I've never heard of off ice problems with him, or his coaches being anything but positive about him. Do teammates not like him?

it's his supposed lack of compete in the defensive zone. That he "looks" like he's not playing hard all the time.

Let's just wait until he plays against men before calling him the "biggest steal in the draft".

Sure, but he can only play who's put in front of him, you know?

FWIW he played very well in our preseason and camp and was able to play 'his game,' even getting his usual tap-out-of-midair goal.

Edit: you seem to have no problem calling Primeau "the next Carey Price" even though it's pretty early, yet "it's too late" for Kaprizov. Got the feeling timing is always going to be your criticism.

Kaliev has at least a 1 goal in 13 of his 17 games this season
18 goals, 15 assists in 17 games this season.

I'm sure he'll slump especially given his team, but maybe not with Jenik continuing to feed the beast...but he has a legit crack at Tavares' recent 72 goal season.

Not that it wouldn't still be impressive, but Tavares was 16 when he did that. (I know you aren't comparing the players, just stating a fact)

He could, but it's possible he could also miss time with the US team. Will be interesting to see what happens if he gets traded to a contender around the OHL trade deadline. His consistency in putting up goals is about as good as I've seen in the OHL. Also interesting to note that not even Tavares managed to best his 16 year old season output in his next seasons.

I think with AK the issue is compete/ability away from the puck and skating being just "fine". The concern seems to be whether his style will translate at the next level. From what I've seen it's kind of hard to say. If he doesn't have an elite scoring touch at the pro level, I'm not sure he does enough outside of that to be a player. If his elite goal scoring skills translate, he'll be a really good at the hardest thing to do in the game. Really smart gamble by LA, especially since they had a top 5 and later 1st round pick that got them players that seem pretty safe bets and also have high ceilings.

Several reasons he dropped (according to several scouts I follow):
Low level of competeness, limited internal drive to succeed, pretty average skater.
Let's just wait until he plays against men before calling him the "biggest steal in the draft".
Because he is dominating in juniors? Lets wait until he plays against men before throwing this bold claim.

You seem to have an issue with him.

Not really, I dont understand why you quoted the first quote, those are lines from other scouts, not my insights.
Secondly, I think we are too fast to label him as a steal. Just my thoughts.
I quote them because you agreed with the scouts and that is more than okay.

Secondly, you are 100% right that nobody is “a steal” just yet but as I recall this is a topic about Kaliyev. If somebody says he will be very good than why would you constantly moan about it.

Therefore I said, you seem to have an issue with him.

Where does it say I agree with the scouts in that sentence?
