I think what people said is that the gap between Mantha and Drouin is not as big as it seemed on draft day.
Which I think is fair. I can see Drouin as a Patrick Kane type of player, Mantha as a James Neal type of player (yes, I'm obviously very high on both of them). If Drouin reaches that level, he was drafted about where he should have been (3rd overall, behind two outstanding centre prospects in MacKinnon and Barkov), but if Mantha reaches James Neal level, he was drafted way too late (if he hits that level he should easily have gone top 10, even in a really strong draft like 2013, instead of 20th).

Val d'Or was playing their 3rd game in a row today also against a rested team in AB. Not that the Titans are a very good team but still.

I think it's worth mentioning he has 10 PP goals and 5 SHG in 28 games, last season he had 13 PPG and 1 SHG in 67 games.

i know its been said but i havent got to watch him who would you compare him to a jeff carter type? im pretty sure they are around the same size

I threw out Carter not too long ago, I think Carter or Neal are probably best if he he hits the potential we hope he has.

Big guys, very good strides, awesome release, not very physical but can be, certainly will not be pushed around. Also guys that might be quiet but completely change a game on one shift and then light the rest of the game on fire.

Carter has that center versatility, but with him mostly playing out on the wing now, I see some similarities when I have caught Mantha. Obviously nothing is really perfect across the board, but what a joy it would be to have one of those type players in a Wings uniform soon.

Wings new head scout says Mantha reminds him of Rick Nash and it makes sense. Big guy that is not overly physical, good skater, good shot. I would be happy if he is correct.
If Mantha can keep progressing at the AHL level next year I will be really excited about his pro potential. Wings haven't had a prospect like this in a long time.

I wonder what will happen for those guys, who are saying Red Wings will FINALLY fall down, because you don't have anybody to replace Zetterberg and Datsyuk.

Like we didn't have anybody to replace Lidström.

Like we didn't have anybody to replace Yzerman.

Like we didn't have anybobdy to replace Fedorov.

Like we didn't have anybody to replace Konstantinov.

Time goes by, new guys will come, and Red Wings will stay competitive.

Last games 4-0-0 without Datsyuk.

It's nice the Wings are finally playing well, and as a life long Wings fan, all I have to warn you is don't be cocky. This team is on a downward trend... Holland has made more than a few boneheaded moves in the last few years, and if it wasn't for Monster playing like he's never played before that record would be a lot different.
