How physically mature is Holtz? I saw some pic of him a while back and felt he looked more or less physically matured. That's compared to a lot of draft picks who clearly look like kids. It's something that made me question how much he can improve compared to his peers.

He's always been very physically mature compared to his peers. He works hard in the summers with Andreas Öhgren.

For sure. It's an advantage he's had over a lot of players, more so a couple of years ago. Still think he's one of those guys who is just naturally strong, will probably be that way at the NHL level too, to a lesser extent. What he needs to work on is using his physical tools better. Would like to see him be more aggressive, separate players from the puck, finish his checks etc.

This is actually one of his weaknesses in my opinion. He's labelled as a great shooter, which to an extent he is, but he's not really quick at getting his shot off. And he's not great at getting shots off at high speed either. When he's static like that his shot is elite but in other situations he's not as dangerous. He'll always be dangerous on the man advantage but my question is how many goals he can score at 5v5 in the NHL.

So you don't think he's impressive to have scored 9 goals as a 17-year old in the SHL, finishing 5th in goal scoring in only 35 games, with the highest goal scorer on the team scoring 17 goals and over a decade older than Holtz?

He kinda belittled the J20 in only 3 games with 7 goals. Every CHL draftee playing against peers up to 20 years of age is going to be more difficult to project at the NHL level because there's that AHL step in between. But the SHL doesn't have that in between league. The fact he can score at the SHL level gives a better insight into translating into NHL play.

But, yes, he's gonna need to be a better scorer as SHL and NHL goalies are more difficult to beat along with better defenses. With that said, he's still ahead of a lot of goal scoring prospects.

He hasn't played a game in a couple of weeks now, so not much to discuss I guess. As I understand it he should be back in the lineup on Sunday when his season starts for real though.

To post something relevant this guy expects a crazy breakout year by Holtz https://twitter.com/MrMadhawk
Every prospect is not playing... and people are still discussing them.

He's an underrated prospect on this board, who seems to have collectively convinced itself that he's an opportunistic floater with relatively small chance to maintain scoring in the NHL compared to the other prospects that are slated to go in that 5-10 area.

Holtz is going to be a very good player, he's arguably the best goal scorer in the entire draft, that is so valuable in the NHL; he's a big strong kid too so the physical part of his game should come around in 4 or 5 years. Sometimes I have to remind myself that these kids are 18, Holtz is a man-child compared to my boys at that age....

I'm still saying Holtz > Raymond
Yeah i know, that might be minority opinion here,
but that's what i think.

I see Raymond as a potential bust.

There are plenty of scouts who seem to agree with you, although Raymond may be changing some of those minds with the way he's starting this new season.

Hard to say how NHL successful these 2 will be, but they are on a Swedish level both on par with Elias Pettersson on talent level.

I think that’s an exaggeration. I think Pettersson is far beyond Holtz based on talent, and while I think Raymond has a similar level of talent, he’s not as proven at the time of the draft as Pettersson.

I think Pettersson had higher upside/talent level than Holtz or Raymond. You could maybe argue that Pettersson wouldn't go ahead of those two if they were in the same draft though.
Pettersson is a C, which is typically more valuable than wingers. Pettersson had the high end talent. concern was his lanky frame and the time it would take for him to add muscle and strength. And at the time, you would wonder about his Will to continue to compete after getting knocked down early due to his lighter frame. Can't measure a kid's heart and whether he'll consistently get back up and continue to battle or whether having been constantly knocked to the ice will wear on him.

Turns out, he does have the will to compete.

That is quite the uninformed view on Holtz.

I don't know much about him but from what I gather he has a great motor. What many online scouts are questioning is whether he has good sense about positioning. And his goal scoring on NHL PP is a very safe bet. 5v5 scoring is harder to project, as with almost every prospect.

So you're saying "that's quite an uninformed view on Holtz" and then immediately after: "I don't know much about him."

Are you joking or did you think this post was supposed to make sense?

How was Holtz in is first game? I know DIF got shutout against Frolunda 2-0.

Apparently him and Raymond both looked good, I believe Holtz was on the 2nd PP and got more ice time at ES. They both had two shots in the game, Raymond got an apple. I didn't see it, just second hand info.

Holtz had 15:52 TOI, Raymond had 15:13
