Is there any reason I shouldn't want Anaheim to take this guy at 6? (assuming Laf, Byfield, Stutzle, Rossi, and Drysdale are off the board) I seem to be alone in wanting him at 6, but I personally think he's the best available and better than Raymond and Perfetti :dunno:

Not really no, guy can flat out score, and by the end of the SHL season he was great at attacking the blue line, and wasn't caught cheating in the d-zone as much as he had been doing. But here's a fresh, bold, prediction: Detroit takes him. Lets call it a gut feeling.

The funny thing is, I see a lot of people seem to think he is one of the ones with the most potential to bust among the top prospects. I don't think so, I think he's one of the safer picks. The dude has proven to rise up to the task and produced everytime he has gotten the opportunity. However I don't think he's the type of player that will run his line, he's in need of someone else. But pair him with a good playmaker and I have no doubts that he will produce in the NHL. Should be a great complementary player in a top line

6 is a good spot for him. Like others have said he doesn't necessarily drive play on his own, but his awareness is excellent and he identifies soft coverage extremely well. With Zegras' playmaking ability, a line of him Rakell and Holtz could be DEADLY.

The consensus ranking for Holtz is around 8 I think, so wanting him at #6 isn't all that radical. I have him at #4, so you wouldn't even get him if it were up to me :)

I think so.

Great at putting the puck in the net. Probably won't have much value elsewhere. I'm not saying he's the exact same player because there are differences, but I see his game a lot like if Caufield was 6'0. I doubt most of his other parts of his game will be much better or worse than league average. He'll score his share of goals, but I think at 6 you are looking for a player who has more of an impact in some other parts of the game. Like others have said, I don't think he'll bust. He's too natural of a goal scorer for that with a tremendous pedigree in that area. I personally don't see him ever being a superstar 45-50 goal scorer though. I don't think his shot, release or instincts are at the absolute top level. His ceiling is probably something around Brock Boeser. He wouldn't be the worst pick at 6, but I think there will be better players available.

How did a 18 yo get ice time in such a conservative environment as SHL if he is a one dimensional sniper?

Well, he's not. I have watched Holtz in person about 10 times this season, and a bunch more on TV. I think he's a better prospect than Raymond (by a hair) because I feel he does the little things well. His willingness to battle for the puck, combined with his very open communication with his teammates makes him a better target for me if I have a high pick. Raymond is a great prospect as well, and offensively probably more fun to watch, but I have my reservations about him especially without the puck

I feel like Raymond battles extremely well for pucks, be it on the forecheck or in the defensive zone. From what I've seen Raymond is actually better in that category than Holtz, and he's a better defensive player as well.

I don't think Holtz is as one dimensional as people are making him out to be. His playmaking is just fine, he has decent top speed, his pace and compete are great. If scouts really believed he was just a shooter he would go 20th pick or below. The book has been out on his shot for a long time, and teams/goalies still can't stop it. I bet he would have scored 70 in the CHL and there would be less discussion on whether he was top 10 worthy.

Yeah.

What is funny to watch Raymond highlights and see Holtz giving some nice assists for him.

Same choir was there vs. Laine, when you could see that playmaking too.
