Lundqvist - Two Weak Games, Bounce Back Buddy

I think he is the consensus number 1 goalie amongst hockey fans nowadays.

Really? I disagree. Heck, just look at the main boards. People's favorite goalies are always the one who is on a hot streak (that inevitably cools down). Henrik tends to get overlooked because people have gotten used to him being great all the time.

Goalies are streaky. Lots of times one will play out if his mind and then fade back into mediocrity. This is why Hank is #1. He is consistently a top 3 goalie in the NHL.

So an interesting stat, Lundqvist hasn't given up 5 goals in a game since the 10-11 season. He did get pulled in the second period (I think early) of the game against the Pens earlier this season after giving up 4. Still remarkable. Earlier in his career he'd always throw in a stinker where he gave up 6 goals and looked lost.

I'll say this: If he can get to .930% and 1.99< GAA, it's most certainly his if Bob remains around .925% and 2.2GAA

I think he if he maintains his current stat line, and CBJ misses the playoffs that it will go to Henke. That is, assuming we make it.

Having won it last year will help Henke tremendously. The league has finally recognized that year in, year out he is one of the top few goalies in the world. If he continues this level of play over the next few years, he'll probably rack up a few more.

Wins are always a huge part of Vezina decision making. Bob wouldn't even be on pace for a 30 win season in a regular year. When was the last time a goalie whose team missed the playoffs won the Vezina? I couldn't tell you off the top of my head.

He's having a good year, but without Ws, he won't win the Vezina.

I think Hank will come up big with shutouts in the playoffs and we'll all have a great laugh.

He is the best goalie in the league hands down. He's having an average season by his standards (rough start, no shutouts) and has a good chance to come out of it with another Vezina.

I don't know if I'd say that about Brodeur's fitness...

All this save shows me is that Marty flailed around like an idiot and luckily nipped that puck. Had Gaborik scored, they would've beheaded him.

Much like last night when he decided to do a cartwheel on a standard shot except he wasn't as lucky this time. He loves to flop and flail around. Sometimes it works and he looks like a genius other times it makes him look like a fool. Though we shouldn't talk about him too loudly the reinforcements will be coming soon :P

King Henrik, as he’s known, has allowed two or fewer goals in each of his last 10 games (6-2-2, 1.57 goals-against average and .945 save percentage). The Rangers are now riding a streak that has seen them three win of their last four games and take seven of a possible eight points in that stretch, capped by Lundqvist’s 48 saves on Saturday that rescued a 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Rangers winger Ryane Clowe played his entire NHL career in the Western Conference until last week when the San Jose Sharks shipped him to New York at the trade deadline. Getting to see Lundqvist on a regular basis is an eye-opener.

“Seeing Lundqvist first-hand is great. He’s unbelievable,†said Clowe, who scored two goals in his first game as a Ranger after scoring none in 28 games this season with the Sharks.

That's why they pay him the big bucks.

didnt realize hanks numbers were where they are now, good for him now he needs to work on that SO column, poor guy couldn't buy one if he wanted too

Shut outs are usually compliment of the defense. A 4-1 game is because of a garbage goal that the defense left a guy wide open to scoop an easy rebound, or an elite sniper like Stamkos.

Ever think that hes coincidentally th reason we cant score? Probably kills our forward's confidence.

i think he steals the venza this yr... back to back would be awesome for him.. there really is no other goalie in the league putting up his numbers.. we are so fortunate to have him its ridiculous!!!

lets put it this way we lose more games due to our fwds not producing then our defense and ofcourse hank.. image we had a offensive dynamo like Pitt.. we'd win the cup like no other team has..hahha

It's crazy how Staal goes down with an injury and the D core has been in disarray and Hank pretty much negates all of that.

It's something amazing to have him between the pipes.
