The voters are the GMs. As of now, Bobrovsky deserves it over Lundqvist and I'm sure the GMs know that.

Why does Bob deserve it over him, he barely has better stats? I'm not sure we're a better team than Columbus this year either. Also, if I were a GM I'd rather vote in Lundqvist and know I gave the Vezina to an established elite goalie than a guy that may embarrass me down the line when he turns into Jim Carey 2.0. That's just me.

If Bob wins it this year then they should go back and give Henrik all those other Vezinas he was nominated for

The Vezina goes to the best goalie of the season and not to who the more established goalie is. Bobrovsky has better stats in every category. If a GM gives the award to the goalie who had a better season, it will be impossible for them to get embarrassed down the line because they made the right move to give it to who deserves it for this year.

If you think the Vezina should go to the more established goalie, then you are ****ing up the award.

I think Karlsson showed last year that an unestablished player can win a prestigious individual award. However, Karlsson was what, like 30 points ahead of the 2nd defenseman in scoring? Bob BARELY has better numbers. I think them being so close in GAA while Hank only has 1 shutout also speaks of the consistency that Hank brings every night. CBJ has to leapfrog a couple teams, and they have less ROW than the teams around them. That makes it harder for them to get into the playoffs, and less likely that Bob wins the Vezina.

(Although how hilarious would it be if a guy goes from being the Flyers' backup to a Vezina winner?)

An argument can be made that Brodeur won the Vezina in 2007 and 2008 based on reputation. I don't think the Vezina should be awarded based on reputation, or any award for that matter, but the voters are sometimes swayed by this.

"The Vezina Trophy is an annual award given to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at this position as voted by the general managers of all NHL clubs"

I do not think Sergei Bobrovsky is the best goalkeeper in the league

I haven't watched the Blue Jackets a lot this year (not once since Gaborik is there), but from the few games that I saw, Bob doesn't get ****ed by his defense nearly as much as Henrik has since Staal got injured

Who cares? How about last season where the Rangers' defensemen were the best in the league? Using this excuse, should Quick have won last season?

It is very close between Bob and Hank. I don't watch enough Bruins games but I highly doubt Rask will win.

Bob will win it and then fade back into mediocrity. While Hank will continue to be the best goaltender in the league. Oh well...

If we're not taking team defense into account, how about the fact that Bob's numbers are BARELY better than Lundqvist's? How can you make such definitive statements like he's the best in the league when the numbers are so close?

Exactly how I feel, but I don't think Bobrovsky will be mediocre since I always thought he'd be a good goalie.

The Vezina Trophy is a just an award. Obviously it feels nice when he wins it when he deserves it, but here I'm not going to bother making cases as to why he should win, since he shouldn't win. Everyone here is incredibly happy with how he's playing, which is the most important thing.

You just said it yourself. Bobrovsky's numbers are better. What do you want me to think, that Lundqvist deserves to win it even though his numbers ARE NOT as good?

I don't understand how you could make the case that Bobrovsky doesn't deserve to win because his numbers are barely better than Lundqvist's. They are better than Lundqvist's.

That could change in a couple of games. The numbers are barely better, it's bold to say that Bob is better this year and Lundqvist shouldn't win when the numbers are so close. You make it sound like Bob is lapping Lundqvist.

Of course it could change, and I honestly think it will. Lundqvist has been on a tear recently. If he could keep it up until the season's end, he could become the favorite.

And I'm not making it sound like he's doing much better than Lundqvist. You're the one who's making it seem like Lundqvist should get some extra credit because he's been elite for much longer, when that has nothing to do with the award.

Who do you think is having a better year: Lundqvist or Bobrovsky?

It's Bobs to lose IMO. If Hank can keep the two or less gpg going the entirety of this last stretch, he'll have more of a chance, although if Bob maintains his pace too, It's Bob's. If Hank stays hot and Bob loses his cool for a couple games, Hank should take it.

If Bob can lead CBJ to the playoffs then I think he deserves it

While maintaining good numbers, that is

It will come down to these last few games. Lundqvist is a better goalie than Bobrovsky, without a shadow of a doubt--so I wouldn't be surprised to see Lundqvist play like he did against the Islanders the rest of the way. If he can, he'll win it. Otherwise, Bob deserves the nod.

Look at the offenses we're playing the final seven games. In his current form, and if the Rangers don't score on him, he can shut out every single one. Now, I'm sure he'll give up one or two bad ones. Girardi and Del Zotto will screw him a few times, but Henrik's save percentage WILL go up, and it could be by a lot depending on the defense.

Yeah. Hank and the Rangers have an extremely easy schedule the rest of the way. I'd honestly be disappointed if they didn't move up to 6th with that schedule and a game in hand on the Islanders. There are basically no excuses not to win every single one of the games remaining.

Famous last words...

As it stands right now with Rangers in the play offs and the Jackets just outside it I think Lundqvist will win it. But if both teams make it or not Bob will probably win. Really close though, kind of fun to see a close race like this

Do you really want to be 6th seed though... with an extremly hot Caps team likely being the third seed.

I want the team going into the playoffs on a hot streak. Don't give a **** who they play. They're going to have to go through difficult match-ups if they want to win the Cup regardless.
