As a fellow father, I have shared these feelings with you since the draft day video. I think I’ve looked forward to the day they shared NHL ice almost as much as Jack.Jack looks beside himslef with joy and pride. It’s adorable and I love it. Unashamed of it too.
So Luke's cap hit can only be a max of $1.85M? Nemec's AAV is $4.2M so that is quite a difference and could be helpful over the next two years if he is taking 2.35M less than he could have.
I think Jack has a huge game tonight. He had a great game last game. With Luke here with him, he is going to be really amped upJack looks beside himslef with joy and pride. It’s adorable and I love it. Unashamed of it too.
I don't think he was ever going to get Nemec's contract because Nemec was the 2nd overall pick but his is lower than the other recent 4th picks as well.
Lucas Raymond (2020 4th overall pick with 2.5M inn potential performance bonuses) and Shane Wright (2022 4th overall pick 3.062M in potential performance bonuses)
Thank god they’re not doing initials.
It’s beautiful
Makar's AAV was $1M higher so it does look like Luke must have taken less with the bonuses. Regardless, it does help having hopefully an important piece be at a $1.85M cap hit (at the most) the next two years.Ncaa contracts tend to be lower AAV in general because the first year never includes performance bonuses since there’s not enough games to earn any, really. That means only two years of bonuses averaged across a 3 year contract.
His IS still lower than say Makar, though, mostly because of smaller B bonuses (none y2, less y3) though. B bonuses are the awards based ones, which are generally pretty hard to get unless you’re an instant super star (or win the Calder).
I’m a LITTLE surprised, but ultimately doubt it makes much difference to how much Luke earns. Plus Jack can just pay for his fancy dinners for a while.
You'll learn to love it.Love the player. - Hate the #43
As long as he isn't half the player. Is he #43 because Jack is #86 and since he's the little brother he only gets half?

Yeah, him too...Bahl being able to handle a top 4 role would really go a long way. I’ve mentioned Bahl replacing Graves and Luke replacing Sevo. You’re probably losing some value there for next year but they’re only going to get better and could probably do an adequate enough job
Timo?
Agreed. That's exactly what I'd do if I were calling the shots.Morning skate tomorrow, practice Monday, morning skate Tuesday, game Tuesday night. If he's actually sick then maybe hold off until Washington. If it was something he's over quickly then that outline is what I'd do.
There is a lot on the line in the playoffs. I can't blame Lindy and the coaching staff if they go with Bahl or Smith over Luke. He hasn't had time to get acclimated to the system or NHL hockey. Hard to take risks to start at least, especially when all 7 Dmen have had strong years.Does anyone think Lindy is really going to place Luke above Smith in the playoff pecking order?
Im quite skeptical. I love leadership as much as the next guy, but Lindy seems enthralled with the concept-- and he has his reasons for that and I understand it. But man oh man, Smith may have his moments-- but overall he just isnt very good. Whenever he or Wood is on the ice, I fear an unneeded penalty.
