The Ducks wouldve had 5 fighting majors by now being down 4-0.

Don't ever compare the Kings to the Ducks.
The Ducks have a bunch of whining cry babies, led by the biggest baby, Getzlaugh.
The Ducks have a crap building.
The Ducks have low IQ fans.
The Ducks have the WORST announce crew.
I'll stop now.

So now in the mix of 4-5 teams looking for that wildcard. Would be nice if we made a solid effort of it just to watch some interesting hockey/matchups coming down to the wire. Unfortunately I don't see that happening with the way they are playing

would/should LA be sellers or buyers though?

it's a tough decision, and not an easy one to admit... but it would really be wise to sell and retool

we've got so many players that can fetch interesting returns

I want to hear about a closed door players meeting after this **** show.

Honestly, at this point I'd be happy just to hear about a brawl breaking out in the locker room. At least it'd show some freakin' pride & emotion.

Gotta give major props to the Caps. They played hungry, they played with skill and they easily won the game.

They played like a Barry Trotz coached Nashville Predators team defensive game. The only time we beat them was because of Bernier!

The Kings don't need a closed-door meeting to discuss this spiral. They all live close to each other and hang out together all the time anyway. They have plenty of opportunities to talk this out.

I think they are trying but can't figure out why things aren't going their way. Overall, their possession stats are outstanding, the big guys are just not finishing. Of course, we all understand that the defense isn't protecting the goal as it used to, but beyond that...

ETA: wow, Kopi with zero shots on goal?

Talk about a fire sale.

So much for the Blackhawks win "waking up the sleeping giant."

I have a theory....

Hawks play fast uptempo game... Kings players get their feet moving and play well... leads to opportunities.....

On the flip side if a team is just content to sit back and realize the Kings cycle game is not dangerous.... the Kings offense can easily be shut down. Then wait for the Kings D to make mistakes, because they will, and jump on the chances it'll put teams in a good position to beat the Kings.....

Also a lot of bad/mid range teams lack the overall skill to play an uptempo game and be successful... (Oilers are the exception ) The lower end skilled teams play more defensive.... Makes sense.... if the other team is more skilled slow it down, get the puck in the corner and limit the other teams chances... don't want to start a shooting gallery with say TB....

These are the exact games Kings struggle in... and there have been too many to call it a coincidence.... Kings beat Chicago.. then lose to Boston (having an off year, decent defense), Caps just sat back in the neutral zone and laughed..... Calgary has taken 3 games this season with that strategy? So if the other team sits back takes the transition game out of it the Kings can't generate offense.

It's actually worse than that though on the D side. Teams are not paying the price at all for front net presence or going to the slot.

You don't win Hockey games letting teams live rent free in front of your net and slot area. It's why EDM keeps losing, year after year, after year.

It's a big part of why the Kings are losing this season, and out of the top ten in team defense.

If they keep falling, it's an easy choice.

Nobody has all of sudden figured the Kings out. The NHL figured the Kings out when Lombardi /Terry Murray took over.

It's the Roster not executing at all. How many games have the Kings played actually Kings hockey this season ?

I bet you can count that on both hands. Not good enough folks.

I wonder how many points out of a playoff spot we would need to be for DL to seriously consider being a seller at the deadline.

If they keep falling, it's an easy choice.

not really...not if DL trades in the next week or so...giving up assets for the run...and if they still fail...i doubt he'd sell by the trade deadline...and admit defeat?

it's a difficult choice...basically for LA to be sellers they gotta let things be as is for the time being...and i wonder if DL will make a move or not after the road trip..

The best guy the Kings have for this dilemma - Voynov.

I don't think Lombardi is going to add to the roster. So far this roster has not earned it. Lombardi has to be extremely disappointed with Kopitar/Carter's road play.

In the 44 games not on that 6-0 home stand:

15-17-12

Kopitar - 41 games, 9 goals
Carter - 44 games, 10 goals
Williams - 43 games, 12 goals
Toffoli - 38 games, 9 goals
Brown - 44 games, 7 goals

Jones - .899sv%
Quick - .899sv%

If Lombardi makes a trade like that it needs to be a "hockey" trade, not just one trying desperately to make the playoffs

15-17-12 says it all, that home stand is the only reason this season isn't already over

Williams with more goals than Kopitar/Carter. Ouch
