London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part VI

Next game I would dress Aboflan, Spencer and Fagan. Scratch Reid, Fimis and Dickinson.
It’s not that Dickinson is not playing that well, he is a liability. Nevermind no offence….hes giving the puck away almost every other shift, no physicality….maybe something is wrong, he’s sick, he’s hurt, I don’t know but he is a shadow of his regular season self. It’s painful to watch.
And this series won’t go past 4 games. Erie can’t match the depth of London. Doesn’t it feel like London has another gear and yet games like this they’re up 5-2 after 2….and Erie is getting a bit of help from the refs too, still not enough.
All Erie does is look to create turnovers to get a breakaway or odd man rush so I'm thinking the D gameplan to play it safe is neutering what Dickinson is best at. Other than that Erie has nothing on offense 5on5.

The Knights offensive production and 5 on 5 play has been very impressive in the playoffs so far. 6 + goals a game. If you want to nitpick the special teams have been average but most of the game is played 5 on 5 and they have been excellent at that. Barkey and Cowan have been amazing and have led by example. Hope Dylan is OK that puck to the eye looked nasty.

The players can’t look past Erie until there are 4 wins, but as a fan I can….and wow, how bout Windsor up two games out scoring the Rags 10-2 in two games.
Last year, Parsons was great during the year and then the Knights made him look bad. This year he was even better, and now Windsor is doing it to him. Over rated? Weak under pressure? Or has the team crumbled at the wrong time…..
That series is far from over but you have to love to see Kitchener lose no matter what :)

Are you joking? Scratch Dickinson ? Nope Never. Best offensive defensemen in the league and lights out in overtime

I was at the game so obviously I hear no commentary , why did Eries goaltender leave the game in the second ? he wasn’t on the bench in the third and I thought you always had to have a back up goalie

He was amazing during the season. Round 1 he was very good. Have you watched this series? Obviously not. He’s been awful. Terrible. A liability. How many points does he have this series? Has there been OT? No. He’s a give away machine and needs to turn it around. Watch him. You’ll see.

Sane Knights fan bringing a little sanity….

Yeah scratching a healthy Dickinson for Spencer is 10/10 laughable.
Dressing Spencer, Fagan and Aboflan is for their physicality they bring in a series that is all but over. Don’t kid yourself, it’s as good as done. And another fan stuck in the highlights of the season….Sorry, but Dickinson has played his worst two games of the year this series. He will turn it around. Do we need him to win this series, nah.

The OHL playoffs so far have been the opposite of what was expected. All offence and soft defence. And average goaltending. If that trend continues the Knights will be fine. Don’t get hung up on stats. Wins are what counts. A 7-4 win is the same result as a 3-1 win. The Knights depth is an advantage in the offence vs defence games. Let the trend continue and enjoy the wild games. (Just don’t get me started on the officiating)

When they changed goalies, partway through the second. He came to the bench at a stoppage. I read his lips tell the coach “I can’t play any more” and pointed to his head. He took at least 3 hard shots to the head, so I am thinking he basically put himself in concussion protocol because his head was ringing. That’s why he didn’t come back for third, cuz he was injured and not fit to play again.

London played a heck of a game last night, this London team we saw on the ice, very much resemble last year's team.

However, they can not afford their star players challenging opponents to a fight, as Cowan did last night, fortunately it was turned down. It is risking star players injuries, suspensions and extra time in the sin box. Got to stay smart, and for players to stick to their team roles

Cowan wanted to go after the dman he was challenging went low on him as Cowan was trying to check him against the boards.
McCall was the D-Man. Same guy who has been sneaky dirty so far this series, but turned down every invitation to fight. Montgomery challenged him in game 1 after his knee on knee hit, then Cowan after he low bridged him as you said and later in the game he did the same thing to Halts. He seems to like to run around but won’t defend it.

To add to this, if I’m the Erie coach, I am angry with my guy who turned down taking one of the other teams best players off the ice for 5 minutes, who then scored 2 goals shortly after he got turned down.

As was the case last year, specifically against another American team, there are extra circumstances the Knights are battling, for whatever reason. Good to see the mental toughness of the players succeeding. I thought Erie’s best chance was to slow the game down and get whistles but they’ve quickly let this series get away from them after the first 40 minutes of game one. Not surprised Kelowna canned this coach. I don’t see this lasting past four games. Next series will be a different story. Hoping for Windsor as it’s close to me and so I don’t have to read trust fund kid McKenzie whining for two weeks.

Everybody makes mistakes but watch him in our corners How fast he gets the puck and moves it up out of our zone or how he goes in the corners or behind or net and takes the puck away from a opponent. And really how many goals did he score this season ! You really want to take that away ??? Cmon
