Question is the trade freeze over, when can trading begin?
Trade freeze is over now(Dec. 19 - Dec. 29).

As mentioned, OHL players participating in the WJC’s can’t be traded until the tournament is over.

Overage player trade deadline in Jan. 9th.
Regular Trade deadline is Jan. 10th.

Not expecting Hunter to make another ‘major’ move. But wouldn’t be surprised to see some tinkering either.

Bonk and DIckinson outplaying Gibson...especially since being put together.
I disagree. Keep in mind that Gibson has had the most ice time and is given the toughest assignments. He's been a defensive beast and Canada has given up 0 even strength goals so far. I think you'll see how important he is when he shuts down Hagens tomorrow night (hopefully!).

Bonk has a goal, but he also saw Finland and Germany's bottom 6 for most of the game. He also gets O-Zone faceoffs and PP time, whereas Gibson has been on the ice for nearly every single D-zone faceoff that we have had. The defensive corps has been really good as a whole, but to say they've been better is unfair.

A lot of the team's struggles have come from the forward group in my opinion. They seem to lack the offensive skill to beat more skilled/focused goalies than they see in the CHL.

Rather than enter the pissing contest over player bias, I'd like to point out the elephant in the room re the World Juniors...

A coaching staff who is unwilling, or just incapable of ingame adjustments and utilising players according to their strengths. But thats just me.

Half this fan poster base will be excited/ half not so much come Jan 10 ;)
I'm good either way. As I know they will be in good shape a year or 2 down the road.
Big buy or an unseen add? Both in play and being worked on I'd guess.
Mentioned they'd add 2 players no one saw coming and that was Monty n Fimis as freebies.
Allen......didn't hear a thing specifically, but like it.
Can't get a solid feel now on big buy or freebie, low cost add......
But I'll guess big buy (and not the price most non knights fans think is fair lol) or a low cost add for depth (defense)

Freebie a long shot but would be best option if they can sell it....(top 6 F )

Rookie first-rounder Logan Hawery sat out with an illness and so did high-scoring centre Will Nicholl. Both are day-to-day right now. The Knights said Nicholl, who left early after a cross-check Dec. 20 against Sarnia, has fully healed from his injury. “He wanted to play, but just was not feeling well,” Dylan Hunter said. “You want them to get healthy and you don’t want them on the bus (in that situation), either.”

I know this sounds a bit crazy when you look at 28 points in 20 games and a scoring streak that dates back to Jacques Plante BUT what is up with Ethan Cowan? He just seems a bit off and I would suggest he dominated the league more last season then this one? Even on the WJC Team complimented with elite players his game just seems ... not quite itself. Maybe he is specifically working on parts of his game that he has been told to by the Leafs but it certainly doesn't seem to be translating well to Junior Hockey. Perhaps another player who sadly should be playing in a league that develops him (AHL) as opposed to stagnates him?
Typically when I call out a Knight he then proceeds to go on a tear and proves how little I know of the game ...... I hope the tradition continues!

WOW hats off to the boys 4-1 on the road against a team who has won 5 in a row minus all those starters? Plus our youngster in net for crying out loud! Incredible WJC time is always awesome in London. We get to watch our guys go for Gold but also we get to see the kids play and simply thrive! Well Done guys .... Well Done.

The AHL is not a good development league, particularly for teenagers. Riding the bus across America facing 30 year old grinders is going to stagnate skilled players more than a season in the OHL playing on a strong team.

You can tell by the number of players opting for the NCAA for their 20 year old season with the new rules that people are looking to avoid that league.

Yes I should have placed a question mark beside the AHL but where could Cowan go to challenge his game if in fact this is an issue? Agreed the AHL has some 30 year olds but it also has lots of post Junior players in it that are not ready for the NHL. An example Frazier Mintern in Toronto? In theory the AHL should have the strongest coaching and level of play outside the NHL? By no means is his game sub par but for him he just seems a bit off? He had such incredible puck pursuit in the past often time forcing big turnovers. Not so much anymore .... Perhaps he is struggling physically as he has missed games with injuries this year.

Yes this is often an issue with drafted talented players on many teams. I think you got it right thinking he is working on parts of his game that'll translate more to the NHL with the support of TO and LK, as opposed to just trying to dominate younger n less skilled players in the OHL. It's best for the player oong term. There are things he could be doing that would inflate personal stats and maybe help the Jr club short term but that isn't the ultimate goal
(maybe it's something else but he isn't the only one who has gone thru this and rightfully so)
Personally I think it's the way to run the club n coach up the kids. But, it at times comes at a price.
The WJC......that's another thing lol.

If another move is made I think a solid D is all that is needed. But if nothing is done that’s OK too. Don’t overpay for a rental player and don’t give up future building blocks like Hawery. The team has confidence in themselves (the game in Flint showed that) and don’t mess with a good thing is good advice for a reason.

At full strength, London has the following on defence:

Dickinson
Bonk
Allen
Brzustewicz
Woolley
Fimis
Fagan
Spencer

I don’t see another d-man coming. That position looks set to me.

I agree that standing pat is acceptable. I also think adding a top forward is acceptable. We’ll have to wait and see.

I can’t yet seem to read the tea leaves here in Wolves’s land, but I’ve always felt that Musty will be in London prior to Jan.10th. Maybe Erie? Maybe stays…

What about a guy like Jack Pridham?

Kitchener is rebuilding and he is committed NCAA next year. Would be a cheap addition that would boost our bottom 6.

He would not be cheap lol. Also why would they trade him to the knights of all teams?

Cheap in comparison to a WJC calibre player like Luchanko. It would not be even close.

Do the Knights/Rangers typically deal, no. This time around it’s clear which direction both teams are moving in and Pridham is an ideal piece to move as Kitchener and their fans have committed very little in terms of his development. There are no Pridham jerseys filling the Aud like you would see for Andonovski for example.

I think it could fill both teams needs, other contenders need a much bigger splash that Pridham just won’t fill.

As for Pirdham, joining a contender for his one and done OHL experience makes sense and would benefit his development.
