From Stubbs today, he talked about Resd and the Knights made it clear his future is next year but praying with the team and getting occasional reps will get him ready for a bigger role. The kids know that there will be a time and to trust the system.

What would you rather do as a 17 year old, be rostered on the best team in the country with the best staff and best players to practice with, OR be traded to a team in rebuild puts your success squarely on you to stand out or fade away.

I think at the end of the year we should do a side by side of Johnston and a Read type periphery player and project their ceiling.

I truly don’t know the answer but coming along slowly has proven successful for the knights and their players.

That specific example is great. But generally, you don’t have the roster space to have so many players. Can’t have 8 kids sitting in the upper deck.

I agree but last year Boulton, Brzustewicz, Fagan, and Medvedev spent a ton of time sitting with me in section 305…. So you can carry at least 4 in the stands.

The rebuild team gives the opportunity to get drafted though

Forgot already, George is 2 years his senior, forgot how George played at the beginning of his 18-year-old season, I didn't, he was real good, yes, and he was still very much so in his development years as is Woolley right now at the beginning of his own 18-year-old season. Let's come back in two years time and see how Woolley did after his final year of junior, maybe I'll wish I never wrote this post, but I doubt it very much
The season that George played after he was drafted to the NHL, he was a bonafide top 4 defenceman who Hunter relied on on all situations. An excellent skater that rarely made poor decisions.
This is that year for Woolley….there is no comparison no matter which way you slice it.
If the Knights acquire a defenceman via trade, you’ll see that the top 4 will be Bonk, Dickenson, Brzu and the new guy.
That said, I’d love for Woolley to become a force back there. His size will be needed in the wars vs Windsor, and handling Swick from Kitchener. But nobody will mistake Woolley for George…well, almost nobody.

Kids get seen and drafted even with little PT. NHL teams do their homework, talk with Jr staffs ect...
Heck Spits have a G on a latest draft lost that's playing JrB.
And kids can also go the year after first eligible. It happens.
Ideal, maybe not but it won't stop the kid from having a good shot at a pro if he shows he is good enough.

Not going to argue or disagree, other than say, I do respect your reply, and it does make some sense, and also wondering where would George have played in a similar situation if the Knights had acquire another experience D in George's year after his draft
