From Stubbs today, he talked about Resd and the Knights made it clear his future is next year but praying with the team and getting occasional reps will get him ready for a bigger role. The kids know that there will be a time and to trust the system.

What would you rather do as a 17 year old, be rostered on the best team in the country with the best staff and best players to practice with, OR be traded to a team in rebuild puts your success squarely on you to stand out or fade away.

I think at the end of the year we should do a side by side of Johnston and a Read type periphery player and project their ceiling.

I truly don’t know the answer but coming along slowly has proven successful for the knights and their players.

That specific example is great. But generally, you don’t have the roster space to have so many players. Can’t have 8 kids sitting in the upper deck.

The rebuild team gives the opportunity to get drafted though

Forgot already, George is 2 years his senior, forgot how George played at the beginning of his 18-year-old season, I didn't, he was real good, yes, and he was still very much so in his development years as is Woolley right now at the beginning of his own 18-year-old season. Let's come back in two years time and see how Woolley did after his final year of junior, maybe I'll wish I never wrote this post, but I doubt it very much
The season that George played after he was drafted to the NHL, he was a bonafide top 4 defenceman who Hunter relied on on all situations. An excellent skater that rarely made poor decisions.
This is that year for Woolley….there is no comparison no matter which way you slice it.
If the Knights acquire a defenceman via trade, you’ll see that the top 4 will be Bonk, Dickenson, Brzu and the new guy.
That said, I’d love for Woolley to become a force back there. His size will be needed in the wars vs Windsor, and handling Swick from Kitchener. But nobody will mistake Woolley for George…well, almost nobody.

Kids get seen and drafted even with little PT. NHL teams do their homework, talk with Jr staffs ect...
Heck Spits have a G on a latest draft list that's playing JrB.
And kids can also go the year after first eligible. It happens.
Ideal, maybe not but it won't stop the kid from having a good shot at a pro if he shows he is good enough.

Not going to argue or disagree, other than say, I do respect your reply, and it does make some sense, and also wondering where would George have played in a similar situation if the Knights had acquire another experience D in George's year after his draft

so we can run a few options for our 4th line, but I’m good we can run a balls to the wall physical line with Boulton-Van Bommel-Aboflan or a more skill centric line with Hawery-Van Bommel-Arrowsmith… lots of different looks the team can provide which is nice as the season progresses.

The 05 team had 9 forwards, 4 defenseman, & 2 goalies drafted into the NHL, 2-1st's & 2-2nd's

This team(including Blake & Kasper) would have 9 forwards, 3 defenseman, & 0 goalies, 4-1st's & 1-2nd)

Those 05 numbers are including their 16 & 17 year old players so 2 years from now this team will have more drafted players. But I doubt they are looked at as dominant of a team.

This team would need to 49-5 while outscoring their opponents 260 - 80 to have a similar record. Its not close
I went by playoff roster, 05 team had 9 forwards, 2D, 2Goal

The 16 team had 9Fwd, 6D, 1G (16total)

The 2025 team right now would be 9fwds, 3D, 0G

But very good chance Hawery, Brzustewicz, Arrowsmith, Medvedev and one of Jenkin/Fagen get called and will be on the playoff roster.

Projects to 11F, 5D, 1G (17players) Best paper tiger we ever had.

If Daniil Gushchin and Ethan Cardwell stay long term back in the AHL since getting sent back down to the AHL, we could see Halttunen come back to London by next week. It’s getting quite crowded for the Cuda.

Gushchin - Poturalski - Graf
Bordeleau - Bystedt - Cardwell
Coe - White - Bailey
Houle - Robins - Vincent

The Cuda’s top 9 are core players and are doing well and Vincent and Houle currently have more points than Halttunen (albeit they played more games cuz of Halttunen’s injury). It’s gonna be hard to crack that forward group.

Of course it is the life of an OHL team as they are a member of a developmental league BUT sort of wish either it would or would not happen! I’m sure the Knights feel similarly as Mark always likes to shop / roster build early then let the team come together. Not to mention all the affiliates (Jr B) that may see a big piece for their roster become available? GO Knights GO ….

What is latest on Montgomery? Seems weird he has left USHL but no presser about CHL and Knights. Is he already on 50 protected list? I know they drafted him or is he a free agent?
