A lot of posters complain about the discipline of current Knights….

If Lawrence is added, he is going to drive those people to drink !

He was good for 2 minor penalties per game when we played Owen Sound. Usually 3 if it was a playoff game.

Seems like an odd addition to this team, I’m unfamiliar with Lawrence. Other than being undisciplined what is the scouting report?

Lawrence is still just speculation at this point or do we have something in writing?

We are on a good streak and everyone seems to fit their role, but something about this possible trade seems off to me.

A poster with a good track record mentioned it but nothing is confirmed yet.

@dmead i feel the same way, it makes very little sense. There will still be a lot of moves from other teams still and this would be subtraction by addition.

We had him in Ottawa for the half season and he was a decent addition for us. Cameron's coaching system requires our players to be able to play with pace, both offensively and defensively, and Lawrence's lack of footspeed held him back from being able to fully contribute within that system. Ottawa's wingers are generally fast skaters, and he never seemed to be able to find good chemistry with any of them for any sort of sustained stretch. He was a 0.;5 PPG player for us, but playing a few notches higher in the lineup than he should have been. He'd be a better fit as a #3C or winger, but Ottawa's lack of centre depth resulted in him being a top-6 centre for us and ended up being poorly suited for that role - hence the upgrade to Kressler.

He picks up a lot of tripping, slashing and hooking penalties, that's for sure (due to both his lack of footspeed and long reach). Showed signs of undisciplined play on the weekend but I'd say its more the 2-minute minors that are tend to add up. On the positive side, he's fairly strong on the puck, and has a good reach for takeaways and breaking up passes. He provides a good effort defensively, but his lack of speed gets him caught of position. He can use his size fairly well, but is in no way physical. Seems to have a good shot.

Thanks for the detailed report, this is a head scratcher…. Similar to the 67s London is a speed and skill team.

Agreed, it was odd for us at the time but when we picked him up we desperately needed a centre and had two vacant OA slots. We gave up an 8th for him iirc, and I most 67s fans you talk to will have zero complaints about him from that perspective.

Yes but I think if he is deployed on the 3LW, he would be fine. Where I question it is why London would do that. I see him as a 3LW for a middling team. Maybe if he were a 19 yar old and not nailing down an OA spot it would make sense.

I know the OS fans really liked him but, again, he wasn’t being played out of position.

If Hunter added him, it is because of his time in OS and I think that is how he sees him deployed. More in a depth role with some size along the boards.

We have to remember, as a centre, he is going to be out of position a little more and will take the lazy penalties. On the wing, he won’t be needed in the same way.

I would try to look at it that way and give him more of the benefit of the doubt.

Ottawa was lacking two true centres and a top pairing D-Man. They needed to use their OA spots on those three positions. We are waiting for the third shoe to drop now. If we had the luxury of keeping Lawrence on the wing, I think we likely would have.

At this point, not gonna lie I’d rather go get Anson Thornton lol! I know having two OA goalies would be dumb and I know it’s not happening. But as we know from last year, if by the off chance someone gets injured, there is insurance there. Kinda like having the Dennis and Coleman combo.

Or a bonnafide top 6 forward that can and will score in the playoffs

i thoguht simpson was the answer? mark is a master at trades but maybe this year hes just not that happy with the prices and thinks next year may be a smarter time to do it.

I don’t mind running with Willmore. Do you think he can’t start in the playoffs

I could be wrong, Mr. Lawrence does not seem to fit the Hunter's profile of players in Knight's today's kind of game, maybe in the past but not anymore.

I totally agree. This year there is a hot OA market that I’ve never seen before. Paying a 2nd round pick + is just a lot! Make trades that help you today but also don’t hurt the future.

The London media that I've reached out to has no knowledge of a potential deal with Ottawa for Lawrence--this doesn't mean that it won't happen. I'm also being told that Bowler is asking for too many picks for Peer, but Mark H could check back in with Bowler.
That's all I got...

It is very possible he could be a fall back plan should they not get anything else done.

With respect to Peer, I think the market price has been set. Either Bowler gets in line with the market or he holds him. No one is paying well over market price for him. There are others out there. It is not like I see anyone dishing out two 2nds and a 3rd.

just because mark doesnt like the price, doesnt mean the price is out of whack.

If there are no takers, what does that say about the asking price ???

This pre-trading deadline frenzy just illustrates what a clever marketing plan it was to include trading cards with bubble gum.
