Was this because of that hit on Smith? If so, what a horrible suspension. I was watching and thought Smith embellished his fall big time. Went down pretty easy for 6'5, 206 lbs. Call the hit from behind if you want, but you better damn well call the embellishment too.
Guess so. Either way a very soft suspension

I believe the suspension is for an alleged, attempted eye gouge when McCue was flat on the ice with a Pete on his head.

Yes, Therrien should have known/I’m sure did know there would be retribution; but, he should be able to (see it coming). I’m quite sure McCue could make a point with guys that size and age without the element of surprise.
That’s two blind side attacks by McCue in a week; not cool.
Players must be ready with their heads up at all time if they are going to dish out dirty hits, this should be the message. An unfair situation should also be met with equally unfair situation. Two wrong do not make it right bur sometime if of equal force or of similarity in nature messages must be sent. Cheers!

remember that when a Knights 17 yr old is on the receiving end of 2-3 fists before being ready to fight.

Watching the game last night, I saw gloves at the back of Peterborough player's helmit pushing his head against the glass, it may not have been a hard hit but the action on the head was dangerous all the same. As the league is trying to eliminate head injuries I think, unfortunately for the Knights, the refs and the league has got it right on this one. IMHO

I posted the video above, it looks like the major penalty and 3 games was for what happened after the players were lying on the ice.

thats true… I still view it as light, but alas. They must move forward.

If you skate around being a menace with 0 regard for the opposition you should ALWAYS expect someone to tune your clock. The age card is a cop out
C’mon, Therrien skating around being a menace?
Will he pay the price for playing above his weight and inevitably crossing the line. Almost certainly.

The age/size comment was colourful fluff not the focal point; wannabe but obviously not so tough guy enforcing something from the blind side is. A fist to the face of someone not quite ready to fight …kind of a sucker punch, it cannot be justified imo.

Yes, exactly. He received a 2 minute checking from behind minor for the initial hit. It's still so hard to see what happened in the video, but the refs were right there, so he obviously did something in that scrum.

Couldn't see that as he was laying on his back under the two Peterborough players giving it to him, he could have but it would also have been hard for him to move to do anything.

You can see McCue's ungloved hand right into the face of Dubois under his visor and forcing his head to snap back. Two linesmen were right there as he was doing it and both jumped in immediately to stop McCue. It's clear that there was no hesitation by either linesman. Your version of events does pass the sniff test.
