Gazizov and Halttunen will probably be the 2 Import Players for the Knights this up coming season '23-24.
Daniil Ustikov was drafted by the Knights this morning.
Ustikov will probably join the Knights next season.
Below is the LFP Article on the Import Draft:

That made the Swiss defenceman, who turns 17 in August, the London Knights’ prime target in the Canadian Hockey League import draft Wednesday morning. The Knights owned the 46th overall pick but moved up to No. 40 after six teams passed on their selections.
“He skates incredibly well,” London associate GM Rob Simpson said. “His evasiveness helps him a lot because he can skate himself out of trouble. Even though he was up against older players, his skating at that level and pace automatically gives him a leg up.”
Ustinkov played a handful of pro games for Zurich SC, where former NHL bench boss Marc Crawford took over as coach.
The club’s roster included long-time West Lorne pro Justin Azevedo and one-time Toronto Maple Leafs player Mikko Lehtonen.
“We felt he was (the Swiss team’s) best defenceman and controlled the play when he was on the ice,” Simpson said. “He played a lot of international games (including under-17 duty) this past year and when you’re scouting a player at this level, you’re going to be able to watch a lot of tape and get a good feel of what they are.”
The Knights’ decision to pick a young import defenceman is another sign they feel the recruiting of Finnish sniper Kasper Halttunen is trending in a positive direction. London is speaking to the Sharks second-rounder regularly and hopes to have a better idea of his and San Jose’s plans for next season at the end of development camp this weekend.
“We’re waiting on Halttunen and we have (Russian forward Ruslan) Gazizov back,” Simpson said. “Daniil has a contract for next year (in Switzerland) so we can spend the time recruiting him to see his intentions. We’ve welcomed him to the organization and will be meeting with him shortly.”

Playing Logan at the NHL level next year is a good way to ensure a lottery pick.

He needs more time in the lower levels to really focus on D. In my opinion, he improved minimally last year in that regard. Truthfully, I'm not convinced he will ever be a player you can trust in the defensive end because he makes poor decisions with the puck and forces plays. I want to see him succeed but I think he needs a lot more development defensively.

Chances are very slim but he should be back in London imo

Over the top hyberbole. One players limits do not tank a season for a team.

I agree he needs work on defense, and all reports out of Montreal confirm that. He will be AHL bound with a few call ups. Lets see how he progresses.

The London Knights’ return to post-Covid crowds and a stirring run to the OHL final resulted in record 50/50 sales and a $75,000 donation to the Children’s Health Foundation.
Childrens Hospital is the only organisation I donate to. They treated my daughter with respect and dignity..

just wish they could get a better handle on runaway costs but that is systemic to the medical community as a whole.

I agree 100% with your assessment especially in his need to “rush” or “push” the puck up or even thru defenders. Not sure panic is a good word for it but he needs to breath and take that 1-2 seconds extra in order to ensure he makes the smart play.

I do think however he has probably evolved beyond what the OHL can offer him. NHL NO WAY however he should (imo) be in the AHL. If he can’t cut it in the AHL London is an excellent choice for any NHL team to develop a player further. Fingers crossed it would be a major bonus if somehow he fell back to us?

I would imagine the Sharks were pleased to see the progression in Ryan Merkley and the commitment the Knights made to him when basically it seemed most OHL teams were nervous to trade for him? Perhaps that will have been enough for them to “push” Hulttennen towards the Knights for the upcoming season? Let’s hope he is as good as most folks think that he is if in fact he shows up!

My partner works in Peds Oncol. TY!
They don't always agree with the foundations decisions but it does fund alot that directly helps families including child life specialists n equipment.

I think he needs and will get the AHL seasoning. I'd make the seasons plan not involving him. Physically he can get away with too much here and although coaching n dedication help so does your weaknesses being exposed. In Jr his athleticism n length cover up footwork to a point.
Such an odd development path with so much game time missed for various reasons. But I think he is ready to step up. According to reports looked like a man amongst boys at Habs dev. camp.
Can we now say the Knights staff can coach D or.........

Cowan makes a fine first impression

Easton Cowan is doing everything he can to destroy preconceived notions about him and his suitability to the professional level. He’s a few years away from contributing to the Maple Leafs, but he aced his first impression test throughout the development camp.
Cowan was widely regarded as a reach with the 28th overall pick in last month’s draft, but he certainly looked the part of a first-round selection during this week’s camp. He was universally lauded for his tenacity and plus-skating prior to the draft and those qualities were on clear display. Cowan is relentless in his puck pursuit, he takes intelligent angles while tracking back and he’s clearly able to think the game at a professional level.
The 18-year-old was paired alongside Nicholas Moldenhauer and Ty Voit throughout the week. Cowan, Moldenhauer and Voit generated a ton of scoring chances throughout Saturday’s scrimmage and the Maple Leafs were sufficiently impressed with Team White’s first line.

Probably no if i have to guess.
If Halttunen would've been interested to play in London Knights he would've reported last year.

Halttunen is under contract with HIFK Helsinki next 2 yrs ( 1+1 )
and HIFK decides where Halttunen plays so long when he isn't under contract with San Jose Sharks.

Players who are under SM liiga contract won't report to CHL so often.

He HAS to
Unfortunately Halttunen is HIFK's contract player not San Jose Sharks's.
Sharks do not have jurisdiction authority to decide that where
Halttunen plays so long when he has contract with HIFK.

Only HIFK can decide that where Halttunen plays if he won't play in SM liiga.
Halttunen's contract with HIFK is according to Finnish law completely
legal employment contract that cannot be terminated just like that.

I understand what you are saying, but here is my speculation without any actual knowledge of terms.
I would imagine his contract with HIFK has a clause in it, that allows him to sign an ELC with an NHL team, in which case, San Jose would then have say as to where he goes. I would think this is standard practice for player agents to include in contracts for players at lower levels. The only time it seems to be an issue, is players with KHL contracts.
