Knights 3-2 winner over Barrie in shootout

They got the shots count (52) on net again tonight but what a poor played game against a bottom team they were suppose to avenge a loss. Many bad timing penalties again tonight changing momentum several times just as they were pressing hard on Barrie.

That Suzuki's goal probably should have counted in my opinion. It looked like both linesmen were on their way to breakup the fight leaving blue lines unattended, I am not sure but I think it must have been why they disallowed the goal, they didn't announce it on the PA system, I don't think. Barrie must have had 5 goal posts tonight, play like they did tonight against contending teams they'll lose every time.

I know it is a meaningless BS stat that shouldn’t be worried about, but whoever selects the three stars for London home games should really hand that off to someone who understands the game a little better, or anyone that actually watches the game! The fact that Greaves was not the first star simply because his jersey had a horse head instead of a knight head on it is just dumb. The kid was awesome and judging by the fact that 5 different Knights went over and gave him pad taps after the game made it pretty obvious that without him in net this game isn’t close. He made 50 saves, Raay made 24. Sometimes you need to stop being a homer and appreciate talent regardless of what colour sweater it’s wearing.

What kind of coach whose team is two men short and the faceoff in his end has his two best faceoff guys on the bench?
What kind of coach puts a player out for three straight minutes at the end of a game so that that player could extend a personal goal scoring streak?
Foudy was gassed and it let Barrie back in the game. Not good coaching IMHO.

I totally agree with you when you say refs don’t decide games.

I don’t know why you are bringing this about. I say something and your mind goes somewhere else, if I said anywhere the refs are deciding games I wouldn’t know where in the post I wrote that. Basically all I said is different refs, different moods swing and numbers are not always telling the story of a game.

2 separate thoughts in my post. Clearly separated by periods and spacing.

Ill justc eave it for now. Keep on keepin on.

This is my first post but have been reading this forum for over 10 years. I have to say , whoever thinks that the Knights are not playing well does not understand or does not recognize that this team is doing a fantastic job and the coaching is the best you are going to have period. Who cares who is sitting on the bench tonight. Did they win? yes! Did the win help them in the overall picture? Yes! they kept pace with Ottawa, they gained another point on Guelph and they used another game up on the Soo. Stop beating this team and coaching up. Start seeing the big picture, 52 shots on net, shows me that they did play a good game. Raymakers made some great saves and they played relentless. This team has that "it" factor that you can't buy or trade for. So enjoy it because this team can go deep this year and good on management to see and work with that while maintaining position for next. London does it right year in and year out and to be number 1 in your league or competing to be #1 year in and year out, appreciate it. Barrie might of not come to the rink with as many wins and some of you think the Knights should of beat them 6-0 but if it was not for Greaves it would of been a more lopsided score. Sorry, but just frustrated reading this forum this year and reading comments that make no sense to this team. I live 1800 KMs away and I admire this franchise and miss watching them live. Anyway, this year they will go deep and it is going to be some great playoff hockey coming from both conferences. Have a safe weekend everyone and Cheers!

Scrap scrapes out a win for Knights...........Ryan Pyette

The Knights fifth straight win was rescued by – of all things – a fight.

“You don’t see that very often, do you,” Cole Tymkin, the man in the middle of all the controversy, said with a grin after a 3-2 shootout victory before 8,992 Friday at Budweiser Gardens.
The London forward engaged with Barrie veteran Ben Hawerchuk in the third period just as Colts star Ryan Suzuki, the former Jr. Knight, was converting a 2-on-1 break for a go-ahead goal. That tally ended up being waved off on account of play having been stopped because of the impending fisticuffs at the far blue-line.
Just 31 seconds later, Connor McMichael put London ahead and that marker proved gargantuan when the clutch Colts forced overtime with just 18 seconds left in regulation.
McMichael ended up winning it with the lone shootout goal.
“(The fight) definitely saved one for us and I feel it gave us a momentum boost,” Tymkin said. “It was honestly just fate. I asked (Hawerchuk) to go when we were in his zone and then we backed out the whole way and it was pretty good timing.
“If we had dropped them earlier, they wouldn’t have even scored, so it timed out perfectly.”
Tymkin has only been in two fights this year, so he is eligible to play against Kitchener on Saturday. His next fight, he gets suspended.
“That was good on Cole for stepping up for the boys,” McMichael said. “We got a lucky bounce there and hopefully, we don’t rely on games like that. We’re happy with the way it worked out.”

Welcome on board, your first comment in 10 yrs glad you finally decided to express your view.

Your post talks a lot about the positivity of this team over last night game and over the years, I think most the fans here recognizes the same as you do. Yes the Knights won and kept up up in the standing, had 52 shots and did play well enough to beat Barrie in shootout, what is not mentioned in your post is the negativity that almost blown this victory to a possible loss to one of the weaker teams in this league. Winning in a shootout to a bottom team and losing the lead with 18 seconds left, taking rediculous untimely penalties and giving up 3 on 5s as well as taking extra long shifts sure they can get away with this with lower teams but not against top teams. They almost lost this one, even their game to Flint , the league bottom team, they only won it by one goal margin just prior to Barrie last night. Some serious bad habits has started to settle in for the past little while that they need to be addressed before playoffs.

Yes we fans do notices the good stuffs the Knights allways bring us years in and years out, we are very attentives and we also notice the bad plays that is making us worries if this is the year for this team or not. This is the forum where we come to express all our thoughts good and bad about our favorite team as the season progresses toward to big end prize.

Since the trade deadline London looks like they are going nowhere fast. Average teams are taking them to the wire they will be out early playoff time if they continue on this path. Their recent play is showing other teams how really vulnerable they are. What is happening London people? clue us in on your thoughts please.

I mean they still handled Ottawa, Saginaw, Oshawa and Sudbury post-deadline.

Just tells me they have a tendency to play down to the levels of their opponent (which a lot of good teams do).

I was referring to the way they have played since the trade deadline. I believe Saginaw, Guelph, Ottawa, and Niagara are all better teams now and the Soo could really prove giant killers.

Since the deadline they beat Ottawa and Saginaw lmao ...

But okay

By the way they’re 9-1-1 post-deadline

Since the trade deadline London is the second hottest team in the league (one OT loss against North Bay from being the hottest), in that span they have beaten Saginaw, Ottawa, Oshawa and Sudbury, they have put up 50 goals in 10 games vs allowing 27. +23
In contrast Guelph is 6-1-3 putting up 49 and allowing 32.+17
Saginaw 7-3 41/31+10
Ottawa 8-2 52/31+21
Niagara 9-1-1 60/32+28
Soo 8-1-1 50/32+18
The only team better than London post deadline is Niagara with 1 more win in 1 more game and +5 goal differential.
Basically if they can beat Kitchener by 5 tonight there wouldn’t be a better post deadline team in any meaningful stat.
Should they be playing better against teams like Barrie and Flint? Absolutely, are other teams clearly better? Not according to their records.
I thought what mattered come playoff time was wins and losses and out scoring your opponents? Apparently it’s how fans perceive your play that puts you through to the next round?

It's not well put at all. He clearly didn't watch the game and just cited the shots on goal and is telling people that did watch it they don't understand.
Agree 100% they played brutal last night. 52 shots does not tell the whole story. 21 shots in the first period most of them were from far out, wasn't a lot of quality shots early on. Missed passes and undisciplined play... they were lucky to get the win.
