Prospect Info: Logan Mailloux Part 3 The Only Hockey Talk Thread

Mailloux developing even a few of Malakhov's attributes would be incredible. The latter was one of the most talented defensemen to ever play for the Habs. His shot was to die for and his mobility was simply impressive. Few were better when the mood struck him.
he could skate like the wind on crisp winter pond.. Unfortunately his mind was stuck in the ice fishing cabin.

Malakhov was in my book alongside Andrei K for the category "most frustrating player to watch" :)

Yeah, what I am saying is also a reflection of BPA.

1. Bedard
2. Carlsson
3. Fantilli
4. Michkov
5. Yager
6. Dvorsky
7. Sale
8. Ritchie

Once you get to 9/10 then Allen enters the convo with Benson.
At this point, Allen might be available woth Florida’s pick, their season isn’t looking too good right now

Drouin is much more frustrating than those two were for me. Samsonov also. At least Malakhov and ak46 had moments of brilliance offensively every 4 games - and they could hold their own physically.

To me he is the most intriguing prospect we’ve had in a long time. Elite skills, Brent Burns like imo, but hasn’t played a ton of hockey. I feel he has the raw talent to overcome the missed development time. Does he have the commitment and desire? I believe he has that too, we will see.

When Vlad was in the mood to play he was truly elite.
The opening night of the Molson Center in 1996 he recorded 3 assists against the Rangers, total domination.
Three strides and he would go from the back of his net to the blue line. Most natural skater I’ve seen. Also, the best blue line wrister the Habs had seen.

Does he also have the mental fortitude to answer and live with the questions that will follow him for at least the first couple of years in Laval/Montreal and show he has changed and grown and learned from his mistake.

Snap shot of Mailloux after 1:

Defensively: poor clear up boards led to a goal. He was the one on a 2 on 1, slid to the ice on an attempt to sweep puck away, but missed. It ended up working because Mailloux is huge. Guy couldn't get the puck around his body.

Offensively: beast. Almost split the D on a drive up ice. Power wrister from blueline causes rebound.

Physically: big & plays like it.

He's barely played last 2 years, so his defensive play is a work in progress.

I'm not a fan of his defensive passive game....huge example there...1 on 1...he lets the guy takes a shot (he could have easily pokecheck him) AND the rebound while he was completely beside him.

Definitely agree. He needs to be way more aggressive on D. He HAS to close on guys. He's doing too much watching.

Hopefully, this improves with more games.

You do know that he has barely played last 2 years and that it was his first period of the season ? his defensive passive game is the point you bring ? lol
