Seriously lol.

Caufield sub 20 goals, MSL fired or quit, Mailloux zero potential.

I think we found the new most pessimistic HFHabs member. Impressive!
There’s no way the dudes even a Habs fan. He’s clearly just a troll. Which is saying alot, that he has nothing better to do than to troll HF Habs. There’s a whole wide web out there, and he chooses to troll a Habs fan board (in the off-season to boot) Pretty pathetic

Not if he's always injured. So far I have seen absolutely nothing that tells me he will be an NHLer. If his body is already breaking down at 18, that generally doesn't bode well for the future.
Did he have other injuries prior to the one his currently nursing?

Problem with Mailloux is the fact that he could not play in the OHL two years ago because of the Covid. Had to play few games in Sweden where the incident did happen. Came back to the OHL, was suspended HALF a season. Started to play. Was involved in a fight and injured his shoulder after only 12 games. He really need a full OHL season now.

Such an intriguing prospect, I would have liked to see him play one pre-season game. Is he still injured?

He has been injured ONCE.
So was Noah Juulsen...
He has played 12 games in the past 2 years... even if he were to remain healthy, he's losing time on other prospects development wise.
Last time I checked, he hasn't played any pre season games so either means new injury or the injury he sustained last year was very serious.

I am intrigued by what you saw in the ZERO pre season game he played. Injured.
Or in those 12 games in the past 2 years. Suspended/injured.
Well during preseason I've seen that he gets along well with his teammates, but that's about it.

As for what I saw during those 12 games that he played. I saw many highlights of how well he skates, how well he can shoot the puck. How he was physically able to handle himself against his peers. I also saw some defensive misplays, that are fixable. Or situations where he made the wrong choice. All things that young players go through.

You on the other hand have noticed the following.

That he's always injured, or may continue to be injured in the future. He was injured only once. The latest reports are that he's healing nicely, and right on schedule.

That his 18 year old body is already breaking down. Which again, can you provide proof to back that up?

Of course. But some we're labeling him as injury prone while he had one injury as far as I know.

What many of the younger posters here don’t know is that Serge Savard suffered two disastrous leg injuries that almost derailed his career. Some players and people can overcome adversities and others can’t. I’m betting that this highly talented player can. Obviously, the team’s management, who just signed Mailloux to an ELC, also believes he can overcome his shoulder injury.

Yes, mee too. Specially considering the team would've received a compensatory 2nd round pick if they opted out

I remember talking to my uncles about Savard awhile back. My memories only go back to his post injuries period. I raved about Robinson, Lapointe and Langway. I followed that up by naming defenseman like Desjardin and Markov. When asked what about Savard? My ignorant response was. "Oh he was a good defensive defenseman. Who stayed back so that Lapointe and Robinson could do their thing".

Someone like yourself who remembers Savard pre-injury. Can imagine the verbal lashing I took from my elders, for my comments.

I would love for him to become what we expect of him. And yes, he is the prospect on D with the highest ceiling. The skill is there.
But the fact he has barely played any game is concerning. Whether it's one or 3 injuries doesn't really matter. So much missed time at his age is extremely detrimental to his development.

I've learned my lesson with Galchenyuk. No matter how skilled you are, missing full seasons in junior will hurt your development.

Here's hoping he stays healthy this year. He needs it.

I understand your concern, Nicko. Maybe I was a little harsh in my reaction to your post. I'm not thrilled either with the fact that he's missed so much time due to being suspended, followed by this injury.

The thing that has me intrigued with Mailloux though. Even after all he's been through with the suspension. He came back strong and looked to be improving game by game until his injury. This latest setback could also be looked at as a positive. He had the time away from the game to concentrate on learning from his let's say "off ice" mistake. With Galchenyuk, I believe he was rushed. Plus, I don't think he has the determination that Mailloux has shown so far. If the Habs continue to be patient with him. I'd be quite surprised if he turns into another Galchenyuk.
