Ya it probably isn’t a bad thing for him in terms of moving forward as a person and growing.
But the unfortunate and annoying thing is there’s definitely a ton of players throughout the league and the draft who have done much worse things than Mailloux and never gotten caught or any heat for it.

Like you have one kid getting so much heat for this big mistake he made but then you’re hearing about this CHL thing which is probably only the tip of the iceberg in terms of some of the stuff that goes on with some of these prospects and players. But none of those players have suffered any repercussions whatsoever.
I have two boys and a girl and believe me it scares me how things are blown out of proportions these days. You could not be more right about this.

I do think there is a bit of truth in what Hughes is telling us. I do like Mailloux in the few games he's played but he played like 20 games in the past two years. This is ridiculous and could really alter his potential. Sitting down and waiting to give him a contract is a good thing to do. If he is not signed (not sure when is the deadline) we might get a pick back like Minnesota did this year.

What the hell does that mean? They're treating the guy like a captive alien or something! Like they aren't sure how he interacts with other people? Weird comment.
Weird, indeed. He was fine with his teamates in London this year. Are they afraid of other players reactions towards him ???? That's the question. But I am 99% sure the other kids won't care.

Hughes has teenage sons and he knows even his boys could do something stupid while in this age group.
Hughes is saying all of the right things and is willing to give Logan a chance.
It really is amazing how vilified he has been (he needed to be held accountable) when you damn well know the league is full of dirt bags who have done much worse.

That team Canada junior squad rape case is appalling, yet we still don’t know the names.

I agree that while what Mailloux did is wrong and deserved backlash, he is carrying the weight of a social problem that’s larger than him. If it makes any sense

I actually feel your comment is what's weird. This seems like precisely what you'd want to look into in regards to Mailloux.

For whom named this thread "the only hockey talk thread" ..... not working..:D
Well, there’s only so much one can post about this player’s on ice hockey skills and potential at this stage. Attempting to limit discussions about Mailloux to ‘hockey talk’ is akin to George Carlin’s old news reporter comedy skit when he said: “And now for the sport news: 3 to 2; 5 to 1 and that real donneybrook, 1-1. “

I just read that DeShaun Watson just settled 20 sexual allegation lawsuits. Four refuse to settle.
He has signed a guaranteed 230 million dollar contract.
Every sport has some serious dirt bags.

What Logan did was shitty and needed to be held accountable.
In the grand scheme of things he is a friggin choir boy when compared to many.

Compared to the 8 anonymous bastards who raped a young woman in a hotel room in 2018, Mailloux is a saint !

on HF the fact he belongs to the habs enhances the sanctimonious behaviour of the keyboard ethics warriors.

If he can overcome the obsession with fans and media on his mistake and become a good adult and hockey talent, that's good character.

I can see this going in one of two directions. He becomes a grade A prospect for us or he really disappoints. I like the tools and potential and I hope the kid is humble enough to keep his head focused and puts the work in.

Skating with a very good shot and good size. There is no need to dwell on him as a human at this point. If he makes another mistake, that's a different story. But lets not follow him around waiting for it.

Well Mailloux is not part of the old boys club or doesnt seem to have any connections to it so nobody in the hockey world has reasons to "help" him.

Short of Mailloux playing as an all star D next season, I believe they won't sign him and get the pick. Good media attention "repairing" MB's mistake. montreal's prospect pool is also not poor on D, so Mailloux would be forgotten quickly too (again, unless he becomes an all star obviously)

All we have on the right side are Barron and Mailloux. Almost every NHL organization is in need of depth at RD so I'd hate to lose a RD with Mailloux's tools for a 2nd round compensatory pick or whatever it would be.

On the encouraging side, Hughes mentioned last week that he wants to begin integrating Mailloux with other Habs prospects. He'll likely be at Habs development camp after the draft.

The problem is that some are hoping for that 'mistake' to happen as this player's recidivism will justify their initial and continuing outrage. Sad. But all too predictable.
