Call me crazy, but this guy have potential to made everyone forget about P.K. Subban. Seriously, he is such talented, big, great skating, great hands, great shot. Can surprise a lot of people at defensive zone.

Habs have a very good one with Logan Mailloux and I'm hype with him since the draft. Like I'm hyped with Caufield and Guhle aswell!

Damn It didn't take the idiots long to completely dampen Logan's mood during that media scrum.
They just couldn't leave it alone even after he said didn't want to talk about his meeting with the NHL.
He went from being like a kid at Christmas to WTF in a matter of minutes.
It's Montreal

Be interesting if Mailloux has great camp. Owen Beck almost made it last year with great camp.
I'm fairly certain Owen Beck did not nearly make it last year even the most optimistic Beck fans never thought that.
I was one who thought he could make it this year but the numbers are against him. Logically Mailloux has to beat one of our regulars including lefties who can play that right side. Conventional wisdom says this isn't going to happen. This goes back to a conversation we had about drafting and grooming. Top line minutes and PP in Laval or a lesser role in Montreal and perhaps even the pressbox. We seem to be getting fooled a bit by last year's unprecedented inclusion of rookie Dmen. It's not even close to being the norm. Those Dmen are now all sophmores and will continue their apprenticeship where they left off which is far ahead of where Mailloux is currently at.

I agree. But in Mailloux's case, his combination of size, mobility and offensive vision may allow him to close the gap quickly. Really quickly. But a 24/25 emergence is a more realistic expectation.

That is exactly what I thought. Mailloux next season and Reinbacher the following season after getting acclimatized to the NA game.

I suspect with the passage of time even the 'idiots' will stop demonizing this kid. It's hard to believe that with the multitude of troubles facing the world today, so many can remain fixated so long and intensely on the wrongful conduct of a 17 year old. But such is the world we live in.

Throw in Guhle, Engstrom and Hutson and one can, for the first time in a long time, become optimistic about this team's future. The revival of this team will start with the promising back end and that is not a bad way to begin.

His D is just so patchy though. Offensively he could probably produce at a decent clip immediately but he likely gets burned pretty bad in his own end quite a bit if he stays up. It might even look pretty ugly in Laval to start at least.

I just don’t see him starting with the Habs. No reason to expose those RD placeholders to waivers right off the hop. They’re good depth and give the kids time to develop. Logan could look good off the hop but then nose dive and then you likely lost a Kovy or Lindstrom to waivers and you’re forced to rush a kid or 2
You're 100% right. I get it – fans become hyped when a prospect shows flashes of talent, but you'd hope management knows better than to fall for an illusion. Most of our prospects had their moments and we'd think, "This guy will be a star!", but they'd inevitably settle into a much lower water-level. Hopefully the org has finally learned patience.

Mailloux lost development time. He's not there yet. Give him time.

He’s going to have to put up with it for a while. If he stays straight and keeps his nose clean, it will fade away. But he’s better be ready for these kinds of questions. He’s likely to be asked about it for a while.

Once he joins the big club, he’ll likely be asked one last time and then it’ll be forgotten about if he stays clean.

Under the old regime, Joshua Roy would’ve been called up to the NHL last year and played five minutes a night on the 4th line. That was typical of how we’d bring up prospects early and then misuse them.

I think we’ve learned. Mailloux belongs in the AHL and that’s where I think he’ll start.

He has a great attitude and has clearly grown up a lot in the past couple of years

Looking like an absolute steal of a pick right now, hope he continues the way he’s been going

Wouldn’t it be something if Mailloux were to have a Subban type rookie AHL season…
