North of South Mtn.
Population dispersal - Saskatoon ranked 21st in Canada in population. Regina 24th.
Corporate sponsorship - You know that really famous Saskatchewan company that can get behind the idea of spending a billion dollars on bringing a NHL team to Regina or Saskatoon? Encroaching on any/all of Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg territories? Me neither.
Lack of NHL arena(s) or plans to build one in the near future
Lack of support or drive behind the idea (See: Quebec City fans invading arenas in the NHL a year ago)
No history of NHL teams such as in Winnipeg.

Your ignorance is appalling. Have you ever heard of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan or Cameco the largest companies in their industries in the WORLD, both headquartered in Saskatoon. Compare this to the monster corporation headquartered in Winnipeg...that ah...help me here...Canadian Wheat Board? By your analysis the Green Bay Packers could not exist. When Harold Ballard sabotaged the Sask. Blues before they got started at least used Toronto as a comparison...but f...ing Winnipeg?... or more accurately Loserpeg?

Will the trade deadline be around the same time this year even with this delay in the regular season?

I suspect it will be either set at the same number of weeks from season's end (as it would have been for a 82 game season) or it will be set at the same percentage point of the season (for example, if it normally occurs at the 75% point of the season, this year's deadline would be at the 75% of the shortened season).

Just to get the facts straight, Cameco is the third largest.

Okay so let's say camps start tuesday or Wednesday. Do you think we could get the season going saturday or Monday? Sunday games are just weird.

I'm excited to get the season going and to hear some of the details about the CBA, the lottery sounds good but I hope it's not 1 team wins and they get first overall. I'm hoping for a NBA style where even if you finish 10th you could move up to say 7.

also I'm wondering if there was any talk about the re-alignment that the NHL proposed last year because I was really excited for that.

But don't let that stop you pessimistic few from finding reasons to complain and rain on everyone's parade on what should be a positive day.

We gotta be PC. They like to call themselves 'realists'.

@Cmdr_Hadfield: With the lockout finally ending and a 50-game NHL season about to begin, I am ready to cheer from orbit. Go Leafs! http://t.co/xHX55431

I can just imagine a bunch of astronauts sitting around thinking "I hope I don't get selected for this mission! The next mission looks so much better!"

You would if they were in the Gemini program and by not going would end up getting into Apollo and thus walk on the moon. (tank for better players)

What's going on with them? They seem to be caught off guard by this. Calling JVR a Center? Using Rick Nash's image for Scrivens. They are hurting.
