Confirmed with Link: Lockout Discussion Thread 5.0: The Lockout is over!!

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

no brainer its gotta be kaberle.
bourque is still a solid player and the cap hit isnt that bad its just the term and i still believe he will be a good player for us.

Totally agree. Kabs has to be the odd man out. Bourque is younger and a proven goal scorer. Kabs is older and clearly on the down side of his career. 5 years ago, I'd have kept Kabs.

If Kaberle bounces back and Markov stays healthy you don't have to buy out Kaberle, you can probably trade him at the deadline or in the summer for a pick.

Not sure how this is seen as positive.....NHLPA just want to test the NHL after not filing the disclaimer. Bettman, and his ego, probably furious that the NHLPA uses that against him is probably clearly showing he doesn't agree with those methods. So everybody is going as far as they can....and it will stop once again.

This is definitely not the time for ego's and posturing.

That's all you really have to say.

The NHL has a drop dead date. The question is whether the players believe it or not. Its an extremely high stakes game of poker that will be solved in the final hour, one way or the other.

Until we get there, you can't read too much into this situation other than both parties trying to squeeze whatever they can get through the threat of running out of time.

On variance, NHL has proposed 60 per cent limit. Therefore, lowest salary of any multi-year deal must be within that amount of the highest.

If I understand, it means if you front load with 10 mil the first 5 years, the smallest year has to be 6 mil. We'll still see front loaded deals but it will be much more logical.

Say a big star gets 10 10 10 10 10 then 8 6 6 so an 8 year deal with 8.75 mil cap hit.

On CBA length: NHLPA willing to go to 10 years with opt-out after Year 7; NHL at 10 years with opt-out after Year 8

Still 7-8 unresolved issues between both sides but big ones are Year 2 cap, length of player contracts, pensions...

Team's more than ever can't afford taking risks with players. Kaberle is roughly a 10 percent heavier anchor than he was .

I'd vote for Kaberle. Considering Tinordi and Beaulieu in the A right now, a spot or two may open a spot for one of both of them to be the 5th and 6th defensmen.

Markov - Emelin
Pk - Gorges
Tinordi - Beaulieu
Diaz

I'd imagine signing or trading for a more veteran defensman in this scenario.

We will definitely get the 1st overall pick with that defense, nice work. :handclap:

This lockout leave me puzzle. To me it seems both part are trying to quantify the share of revenue they will have in 8 years base on different views and numbers Maybe they can post each part's formula here and the hockey mob could solve the conflict  Than again I still believe in Santa Clause and the Bogeyman:sarcasm: T

So in resume, they came to an agreement about 15 to 20 points and still has to resolve only 5 to 7 points. Problem is that those 5-7 points represent 95% of the whole freakin lockout....Yet, what will happen if they threw that season. When do they start talking again? In next December? And why the hell would any side give up? Don't they all realize that it's lose-lose at this point, so let's do the best losing scenario?

How many walnuts are hidden can both parts still find out were they hid them. Next time around they should make a Texas Holdem tournament with players and owners it would be more entertaining and maybe more effective way to settle things.

No kidding. if this issue is comparable to the rest of the unresolved issues then give me a break.

Still, I believe all the 11th hour talk and all these little piddly things will be resolved but if there's no hockey this year then really it's just pathetic.

I'm 99.9% sure there will be though.
