Confirmed with Link: Lockout Discussion Thread 5.0: The Lockout is over!!

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

I think I saw a documentary about him but don't remember much. Is ETTGS pretty good?

its really good, the documentary is supposed to be about Banksy but takes a twist after he meets someone he describes as more interesting then himself then the documentary becomes about this other guy, I really enjoyed it.

Gionta *****ing about compliance buyouts now. Seems offended that his buddy Gomez is going to get screwed. :sarcasm:

We must have one the most annoying group of players when it comes to the lockout. Just embarrassing hearing what Gorges-Gionta-Cole-Prust have said or tweeted constantly.

Players as individuals shouldn't be too concerned about compliance buyouts... well, so long as they are getting 100% of their pay, which I'm assuming they have pushed for and gotten assurances about. Of course, collectively if the buyouts are in the players' share, that's another matter.

If Gomez gets to pocket his money, plus re-sign somewhere else (or have a comfy early retirement, Swiss holiday, Alaskan cruise into the sunset, whatever), then that ought not be something to complain about. Anyway, it's the PA that is pushing for the buyouts, the NHL seemingly didn't initially want them.

Haven't heard anything at all about the details of the buyouts, though... if they are 2/3rds payouts, that's less nice for the players.

Personally it's going to be hard for me to cheer for these people not going to lie.

But I have to remember I cheer for the logo and its history and what it represent, not the player.

What did Gio say?

We do, but we also have some young guys like PK and Eller who have handled the subject with a lot of class and tact. It might not make up for the stupid ****, but it helps a bit.

And link for gionta *****ing about compliance buyouts? Him complaining would be weird, if not Hamrlik-esque. The compliance buyout is something the NHLPA wants, it's an NHL concession.

Judging by his wording, I think his comments are directed at buying out players who signed those NTC and NMC clauses (which would include himself).

It's OK for the PA and their agents to use the CBA to their advantage, but not the owners?? What a bunch of whiners these guys have become...:shakehead

I know, I can't stand the whining that is coming from these guys. Especially Cole and Gorges. I haven't followed them on twitter in over a month because of this and I still see the whiny punks everwhere I look. I am going to have a hard time liking these guys let alone cheering for them whenever we have hockey again.

They come across and so naive to me.

I know it's frustrating to follow this "negotiating" process, but nothing is gonna be solved (one way or another) before next Wednesday, the ultimate date if they really want to save a shortened season.

Fehr will tyry to milk the owners to their very last drop. On the other hand, Bettman and owners should stop trying to distort and re writye stuff at each offer. They won't fool Fehr, ever.

This shortened season will be a disaster to watch with about 25% to 33% of players in game shape at the beginning of it on January 19th. It's gonna take at least a month to see real competitive games.

Disaster seems to be a stretch. I think by Jan 21st, we will have forgotten about the strike. I feel a shortened season brings more meaning to each game, and we will see pretty intense hockey.

I don't know about the rest of the fans but I'm getting too old to put up with the disrespect these money-hungry ****ers are dishing out.I may cancel my Neulion account for the Bulldogs as well as the NHL network.:shakehead

If a deal is reached before the league's deadline, I think it's more for saving next season than this one. Everyone knows this season will just be a massive waste of cash for the owners, you don't have to be a fortune teller to find that out.

They should have been gagged like the other side. They're not well educated and should never be given a platform to say things that will undermine their position.

Once again, they should have all acted like PK.

Agreed about PK. He's at least come across as showing compassion for the fans and has a tempered, objective view about it.

Like the Montreal Canadiens are going to buy out a 20-30 goal scorer who plays that style they want to lean towards, let alone the captain of the team.

He doesn't really strike me as the "captain" of the team under MT and MB. Gionta's capitancy reminds me of Jacques Martin and I want to forget that era really fast.

Recreational or prescription drugs outta help
barring that i hear electro-shock therapy has come a long way

Man i wish Montreal players would shut their mouths. Every single one of their comments about the lockout show them as incompetent, entitled athletes. Gorges comments were just idiotic or uninformed or both.
