Rielly’s presser is so awful. Looks like a guilty school boy having done something wrong. No confidence no honest self reflection. Wishy washy championship talk. Cliches about belief and friendship. Time’s up Morgan.
Completely baffled at how nobody asked him about his health / individual play.

Tired of the idea that this is a tough market to play in - all they've served up today are softballs.

Why is it relevant that these players have tremendous friendships and everyone is a tight knit group when the championship question is brought up? This isn’t The Lord of The Rings.

Stephen the reporters are asking the players directly about friendships. It’s typical Toronto media asking stupid questions. Our media wants to report on if the guys are besties more than asking tough questions like why didn’t you guys drive the net more

Rielly was awful. Mumbling about championships and no fire or conviction or any seeming clue about shortfalls. No personal accountability. He shouldn’t even have an A, let alone Captain Morgan talk.
Really? I thought his responses were better than Tavares'. They just lost another crushing series, and I thought it was great to see how visibly affected he is by the outcome, as well as stating transparently that there will be changes - and that he can't lie straightfaced about how "close they are to contending" given that they're doing this press conference today.

Would be perfect if after the next question Willie says "Stop f***ing crying, bro."

He was horrible in game 1 and he sunk the team with the Trent Frederic goal in game 3, and didn't do any favours in game 4 either. The whole team deserves blame, including him, but the team also played vastly different with him in net because they didn't really trust him.
'Horrible". "He sunk the team". "Team played vastly different".
:laugh::laugh::laugh: drama queen.

Bit of a strange take. Rielly cares deeply, he always has, the goal and ending obviously devastated him and he's not over it. Expecting a stoic fiery response after another colossal disappointment is a weird expectation of him. He was honest and vulernable instead of trying to bullshit everyone.

Also interesting that everyone is being asked about Marner lol.

I literally called out the entire team, which Samsonov is part of. He didn't do his job. You're a delusional shmuck if you think otherwise, now hop off my dick.

If any of these guys had the will that Frodo or Sam have, then they would have more than 1 round to their name.

William Nylander EOY interview
  • On the last goal - happened fast. Didn't think he had time to think out there, before puck bounced off the wall for a dangerous chance. Hadn't seen that sort of play in the playoffs.
  • On big changes coming - my focus isn't on what changes are coming. We have incredible group. We've been battling years together, taking great steps. Game 7 OT, despite Matty and himself being out of games. Battled to get back in. Is a huge part to have in a group despite who is playing. Not happy with the result, but what we have here is great.
  • On the heat Mitch faces - incredible human. incredible friend. love the guy. there's always someone getting heat here regardless, that's just the way it is. Love him. Will always be something that people have to say, but that's the fact of playing in this market. Everyone loves him, and wants the best for him.
  • On lack of offense in playoffs - tighter in the playoffs. Not winning games 7-3 like in regular season. Guys throw bodies in front of pucks. Games are won in low scoring, tight affairs. That's what happens in playoffs.
  • On expectations on this team and frustrations - very frustrating. Thinks they had a group that showed a lot this year. Every year it's just frustrating. It's hard to say anything else.
  • On Willy's priorities this summer - just get better.
  • On history with Sheldon, going back to the Marlies - been with him a long time. Done a great job with our team. On his future, that's not my decision, that's for them.
  • On playing in the worlds? Don't think so
  • On his injury - Got hit, and got a migraine. Didn't know if there was underlying concussion. Couldn't really see out of his eye when it happened, so was hard to play then.

Keefe is next, I think. Simmons should have a field day. Probably end up getting tossed.
