It sounds like anything short of him saying, "I'm waiving my NMC to help the team," would've gotten a strong response from you. lolPeople worship gods, nobody is worshiping Mitch Marner I can promise you that. Guys entitlement runs very deep, even when he's not trying to actively be like that, it just subconsciously comes out.
I've never in my life heard a pro athlete say anything remotely close to the fans "look upon us like Gods"
To say some shit like that after he's been getting decimated by the entire fan base and city is an interesting choice lol. Maybe I'm just beyond sick of his shit but I thought that was extremely stupid and didn't like the choice of words one bit. Say they treat you like rockstars or something "gods" lol.
I thought the same thing, but wasn't that Game 3?McAvoy grab and pull.
Absolute POS. f*** him
I'm an emotional wreck in case you didn't know by now lmaoIt sounds like anything short of him saying, "I'm waiving my NMC to help the team," would've gotten a strong response from you. lol
I get it, though. People are very frustrated.
The "bring a ladder" comment was hilarious.LOL camera crew fighting
I thought the same thing, but wasn't that Game 3?
He does.Auston saying he didn't even know what was going on with him.... so weird.
I loved Austons press conference . Winning is the priority. It does seem like he’s ready to take over as captainAuston Matthews EOY Interview
- On medical situation - got really sick after game 2. Played game 3 not feeling good, but in game 4 took a weird hit and couldn't go any longer. Doesn't want to provide any other details. Killed him to watch. Proud of the way they fought back. Tried to give it his all in game 7.
- Refused to give anymore details on illness or injury
- On lack of offense in the series - tough to generate offense this time of year. Teams playing extremely tight, not a lot of space. Says that special teams hurt them.
- After frustration at another short run - always disappointing. Always want more. Sucks to be talking here when other teams are still playing. Wants to continue looking inward and getting better.
- On the heat Mitch takes - in Auston's time here, there's always a scapegoat and a narrative. Always something. They love Mitchy. Great teammate and friend. We are all human beings. You take on a lot as players, and rightfully so. But when you see guys going through stuff like that, it's hard, you just try and support.
- On expectations of changes moving forward - doesn't know. Not a question he can answer.
- On the Coyotes leaving Utah (WTF WASTE OF A QUESTION) - Touched on it when it happened. Sad. Disappointing. Understands the NHL's viewpoint on it. They iwll be bringing back a team at some point.
- On individual award nominations - it's always nice to be considered, but it's never fullfilling. Not what he's after. Wants to be the best teammate, leader on the team that he can be. Everyone here is after one goal. All the other stuff is nice, but not something that he's chasing or after or that makes him feel good. It's about winning. Frustrating.
"The passion that unites us all."LOL camera crew fighting
Everyone seems to know Mitch is getting all the heat, just seems like a way to avoid throwing him under the bus in front of the media. Why is it relevant that these players have tremendous friendships and everyone is a tight knit group when the championship question is brought up? This isn’t The Lord of The Rings.
He takes these losses to heart the most. Regardless of how you feel about him, you can never question how much he really cares.honestly, out of all the responses so far, from a media perspective, I think Rielly is the most cerebral and introspective. Picks his words carefully, but I feel like he's definitely the most transparent.
Samsonov's probably the most emotional and painful to watch.
You're faster than MMC I swear lmaoMorgan Rielly EOY interview:
- On emotions of last few days - always difficult. Felt it more this year than ever. Partly because of game 7 OT, partly being on the ice for the goal. His age.
- How much hes' thought about the last play - a lot. Hard to describe.
- On the heat Mitch is facing - thinks Mitch is an amazing human and a great hockey player. So any heat that he's facing, is undeserved.
- On expectations on the group, and falling short again - thinks at this point, we are in a wonderful position where anything other than a championship is a disappointment. Very lucky to be in that position, but makes everything else other than a championship very difficult.
- On why the gropu hasn't been able to break through - tough question to answer. Not an easy thing to do to win a cup. A lot of players and teams who try doing it as well, that fall short. For us, believe in each other and don't want to make excuses. Comfortable with expectations to get to that point. Doesn't have an answer as to why it keeps happening. That has been the driving force behind the off season and what we are trying to do next
- On how far the team is - There's always change. This group will never be exactly the same. Reality of the league. That's the business. Just one of those things you have to face. Cliche about this being a tight knit group, but there's truth in that. On moving forward, there's a framework of what brought that closeness, that needs to be moved forward and built on.
- On where he saw growth this season - comes out in different ways. THere are players here that have taken it upon themselves to take more leadership roles. Players have improved as players, leaders, and teammates. expectation has to be growth and improving. Comes out in all different ways.
- On how close he thinks they are - don't want to stand here and say we are on the doorstep because we are sitting here today, doing this. The belief is there that it's attainable. There's work and improvement that has to take place. We will see how close we are. It feels both attainable and a ways away, and that's what drives you as an individual.
Agreed - both Matthews and Rielly in some sort of C and A combination.I loved Austons press conference . Winning is the priority. It does seem like he’s ready to take over as captain
Rielly’s presser so far has also been the most honest imo
