Giving "pep talks" in the room like the OT one we saw in All For Nothing.

Jesus that was a panful speech, who needs a coach when this is what you get in game 6 OT?

We just came back from two goals down and the message is negative, negative, negative... dominated ... DOMINATED!!!! I would have stood up , told him to go F himself. Look at the body language of the players, Willie covering his face with a towel, Jumbo looking at the ground hunched over, Soupy looking down avoiding eye contact, Foligno touching his mouth, Mitch avoiding eye contact.. anyone with their first year Pych can tell you that is the body language of athletes afraid to lose not ready to compete. As a coach its your job to read the f***ing room .. you don't say things like you are getting dominated, you are playing tight, don't be nervous.. your reaffirming negative thoughts in their head... as an athlete, if you are getting your ass kicked, you know that you are getting your ass kicked .. you don't ever call out your best players in front of their peers and say Matty, Mitch you are getting dominated, it just adds needless weight on their shoulders.

And whats was the reaction of the player on the ice? Leafs completly outplayed montreal in that OT until Campbell let a beach ball goes in... Despite the fact leafs lost it, it was leafs best period of this game... expected goal was 0.81 vs 0.11 in this OT. He didn't get the result but his speech had been working

Why not? If it balances out the lines I’m all for it. Literally the leafs should be exploring any and every option they have to win.

If Knies and Matthews work well together that’s only a good thing for us.

And as I’ve said in the past we don’t need Knies to necessarily be a prolific goal scorer, we need him to be Physical and create space for our stars to do their job. Cause trouble in the net front spot. All of our lines could use a guy like Knies.
Just that I'd be concerned about throwing a young rookie into the playoffs that high in the lineup. Good if it works, but could be very bad for him if it doesn't.

That's the thing with this forum. I agree with you but if he splits them then people are crying why is our best playmaker not with our best scorer. He can't win
He can win by winning. Sure, if they lose everything he decides to do will be second guessed and analyzed to death. But if he wins, nobody will really care that much

Was like watching an episode of Friday Night Lights.

since keefe has been the coach have we ever adjusted our style of play? Whether we are up 1-0, down 1-0, or up by 5 I think we always play the same aggressive way.

I’d like to see our coach make a system change if we take the lead late and want to run a 1-2-2. To add to this when we are running the 1-2-2 no more drop
Passes or fancy plays. Get the puck out and defend the lead.

To again add to the above…we need a dedicated shut down line.

After each loss in the playoffs he'll completely juggle his lines and d-pairings.
He'll probably do the same after every win too.

They dominated them after this terrible speech haha.

You should research before you post nonsense.

You seem very fragile, but I think most people like being told if they are doing something bad and have the opportunity to make up for it.

"I would have stood up , told him to go F himself.".... no you wouldn't have... I also suspect you've never been close to playing any decent level of hockey from this comment.

With d-pair???

Rielly played all playoff long with boosh
Muzzin with brodie
And gio with holl/liljegren

Both of 2 year ago, he didn't had choice with muzzin injured

For foward

Fan blame him to didn't change his line up by separing marner and matthews and at the same time blame him to change too much his line up...

People that have watched Knies say he needs to work on his skating, If he’s eligible to play for the Marlies, maybe that’s where they see him this spring.

He’s not eligible to go to the Marlies unless Minnesota doesn’t advance to the Frozen Four

- Playing Matthews without one of Willy or Mitch.

- Justin Holl at over 16 a game - or in every game.

- Kerfoot top six.

Those are the three that spring to mind.

LOL I seem very fragile? Does this type of weakly executed emotional manipulation work for you? Pitiful that it is a tactic that you use on people to try and make points, it does not reflect well on your character as a man. Be better.

In my younger years, I have told coaches, teammates, refs, opponents off, many times, when they were being jackasses, it's call being a team, a team is together. Letting an opponent or a coach or a teammate bully or be a general asshat to anyone on my team was not acceptable. Even for people who were on my team, that I didn't like, I defended them, to have their back. It's called being a great teammate.

Based on your poorly executed attempt at emotional manipulation and your inability to understand what leadership is I'm guessing you've never played on a good team and your hockey experience comes with a joystick?

Nope we have not and nope we don't adjust. Keefes style is to ride the individual backs of Marner, Matthews, Nylander and JT. it]s not really a style as it's more being in the right place at the right time, to benefit from 4 of the best players in the league. Keefs system is akin to the song Jesus Take The Wheel his version is Big 4 Take The Wheel.

Every person are different, some people need to be encouraged , some player need to be challenged, some need to be kicked in their ass to step up

The fact hes goes with hard way doesn't it was not the right one. You need to watch how your player respond to see if it was the right one or not...

Yup.

Like many here, Keefe thinks an "adjustment" means changing up who is on each line mid game.

by beach ball you mean how the puck was shot through Bogo as a screen and they scored. How did tehy do in game seven... do you think the negative impacts of that speech just ended at the end of game 6? Which part in that speech about the X's and O's did you like the most?

You're right, which is why I said you need to read the room, that was not a room that needed to be crapped on.

1-Screen... it was a blue line shot with 1 player in front,... youre in the NHL not in CHL, an NHL goalie have to make that save...

2-How do you know whats this room need? Its not because they didn't won any playoff series than they need to be encouraged... the only way to see, its try and watch how player react and how theu reacted, they played his best period during the last 3 game... so YES i think it was what they needed... and speech he did game 6 didn't had any impact on game 7.... lmao

I hear what you’re saying, but playing Knies on a top line isn’t going to make or break us. The coaches (if they do their jobs right lol) can move him to a lower line in game. I personally think he’s the 2LW beside Tavares.

I think they go

Bunting - Matthews - Nylander
Knies - Tavares - Marner
Lafferty - O’Rielly - Jarnkrok
Accari - Kampf - Ashton Reese/Kerfoot

Splitting Matthews and Marner is our best chance at winning IMO.

My post was a shot at how he's been changing his lines and d pairs fanatically since the trade deadline. I know that he's had a lot of new bodies to fit in plus a few injuries, but his reputation as a "fiddler" is well established.

So telling the truth is telling someone off? Interesting. I'll repeat, you seem fragile based on how you'd respond to criticism or being called out for your actions.

Leadership is understanding people need to be motivated in different ways, looked like his motivation worked as they outplayed the opposition.

I just think he tried to see whats hes having in hand with all those new player before playoff...

I heard about chemistry... but whats leafs need the most in a team chemistry, not line chemistry... creating a sense of belonging felt this team... creating a team chemistry is much harder than line chemistry and playing with everybody in the line up just help for this...

everting can goesto wronging everting all thetime, if anyting goesto rite its a mirakell the Leafs cannock scored, cannocked stops the goals, once we had China Wall, now we have China tea cup breaking from tying the laces of his shoooooo's tangled up in bluenwhite, Holl has been no goodiness since his hair went somewhere, he needs to get rid of delilah who is keeping his vitals in her handbag, so missed steaks, not on my BBQ!
