Line Combos: Lines you expect to see vs what you want to see

Let me take a look at my previous post around here (#196) .. and let me scroll through my memories of the first game.. uh, high risk for anxiety and nightmares, better keep that short..

More and more, I get the impression that we need to rebuild/replace parts of that roster. What value does it have if certain guys score points on offense, if their lines/pairings give up more goals on the other end?

To some degree, better combinations/pairings would help, but overall you should get rid of (or avoid to sign, in the first place) players who lack defensive talent, or focus, or whatever.

What's absolutely beyond me is, why there are still people mentioning trading Maatta. The guy is just solid and one of the few D we have, that do not get scored on all the time. I know, he doesn't drive the offense or score a lot of points, but 85% of the game is played at even strength and if you give up less than you score yourself.. winning formula.

And yes, of course you won't win with two Maattas on the first line, that's well above his head.. but I would prefer to replace Chiarot, Petry, Holl and Gus with 4 more Maattas. :ha:

With Fischer injured

Cat-Larkin-Kane
Tarasenko-Compher-Ray
Ras-Copp-burgir
Motte-Veleno

Chiarot-Seider
Ed-Holl/Petry
Maata-Johansson

7D.

Raymond is looking great, give him the chance to carry his own line.

Would like to see Johansson pair up with Seider, but it's probably unrealistic right now. By the end of the season that's the top-pair hopefully, along with Kasper in the top-9.

Berggren shouldn't be on the 4th line, either he proves to be productive and reliable on the 3rd/2nd line or you waive him... IMO.

What's a computer?
dbc larkin raymond
kasper comp kane
ras copp motte
tank veleno berg

chiarot seider
ed holl
AJ maata

keep tank n berg on 2nd pp. hopefully could find some chemisty n find some success againt other teams lesser players.

kasper been pissin vinegar n might do well digging pucks out for kane. with kaspers nrg, 2 way get etc makes 2nd line less of a liability defensively.

I would call up Kasper and go with:

Cat- Larkin-Kane
Veleno-Kasper-Raymond
Berg- Compher- Tarasenko
Rass-Copp-Motte

Gives you 3 scoring lines and an identity 4th line.

These are some terrible lines. That third line wouldn’t even compete defensively in the AHL

For now I think I would go like this:

DeBrincat-Larkin-Kane
Tarasenko-Compher-Raymond
Veleno-Kasper-Berggren
Copp-Rasmussen-Motte

Maatta-Seider
Edvinsson-Gustafsson
Johansson-Holl
Chiarot-Petry

But since Kasper not on the team, then probably would have to be:

DeBrincat-Larkin-Kane
Tarasenko-Compher-Raymond
Copp-Rasmussen-Berggren
Motte-Veleno-Watson
