On the flip, if anyone will be watching attentively and want to post about it, I’m all for having SCF GDTs on our own boards so we don’t need to wade into the swamp of the main forums or resort to only posting in the Around the NHL thread. It’s the Cup. We can have GDTs, if there’s interest.

Not like I know what the f*** to do with my time when I’m not posting with y’all.

Totally different series had the Rangers won game 3 as they should have. Tampa coming back down 0-3 would have been a very, very tall order even for them.

We never had that chance.

This team wasn't letting us win game 3 and they didn't.
The rangers lost game 3 as opposed to Tampa winning it. That changed this series entirely.

The kid line also wasn’t a thing in that series. Everyone will be a year older which is good for us and bad for them. That series was the first playoff series for most of our team and it showed but we are a different team now.
The teams won't be the same, so it's definitely possible that we win those series. But let's not kid ourselves and act like they proved that they're head and shoulders better than the rest of the East. They're not. They have the best goalie in the world and a lot of promise, but many changes need to be made and we likely won't ever win a cup with this bum behind the bench unless Igor drags us there. Which again, is possible.

Tip your hat top the Lightning. Great season by the Rangers.

Someone who usually seems to know told me that Kakko didn't play for disciplinary reasons. Must have been pretty serious. Gallant's reaction when questioned about it seemed like a confirmation of it.
What could he have possibly done?

KK: “It is a nice lineup.”
GG: “Sit this sarcastic motherf***er.”

I'm here for it but I'm rooting for Tampa.

Rangers definitely went further than expected and the last 5 games of the Carolina series plus the first two games vs Tampa was very enjoyable. Overall the season was ok I guess. Igor is an absolute beauty, the PP was the best the Rangers have ever had and the post TD run was exciting for the most part.

This team still has a ton of holes to fix, and too much money tied up in guys that frankly aren't worth it, mainly looking at Trouba, Goodrow, Reaves. Team speed and playing with pace is essential if they want to make it back and go even further. I was encouraged by Lafreniere for the most part and I hope that he is able to take the next step into stardom, it would make things much easier going forward.

I think I’ll go to the Met tomorrow after checking out a new brunch place in tribeca and walking by the Hudson in BPC. How about you Tampa fans? Back to cooking meth tomorrow? Or is it the strip club again?
Thanks I needed this. lol

Hunt, Rooney and Strome really did a lot for us this game.

I am not delusional enough to think that we win this if Kakko is in but scratching him and thereby breaking up the kid line in favor of two complete humps who probably shouldn't even be on the roster and Strome who couldn't even skate or finish the game is an overwhelmingly terrible coaching decision.

Also, if Strome is back and forth this much all the way up to puck drop as to whether he can play where is the adult in the room within the Rangers organization to say "OK guys, this obviously isn't looking too reassuring, let's just do the smart (and safe) thing here and err towards him not playing tonight."

Just an absolutely brutal game to watch.

Heartbroken

But, hell of a ride. More than I thought we'd get 6 months ago.

Shesterkin is an absolute joy to watch

How can you not be optimistic? This team is poised to be very competitive for a long time and it starts upstairs with Drury.

The yoots all took huge steps forward and had a front row seat on how to play like a champion. Proud of this team.

This team is ahead of schedule. If we can keep Copp and Motte while signing our key RFA’s we will be in good shape. Having Kravtsov could be big if he wants to be a Ranger.

Great Season with an unfortunate end.

We ran out of gas. After Game 2 Tampa trapped. The coaches/team did nothing to adjust.

We were soft and easy to play against. You can argue we were tired but it's been the same thing all season.

It's a great building block. It's year 1 of our window. I'm hopeful Drury makes the right moves....

The focus should be promoting Laffy to the top lines and top PP unit. I have no clue what will happen with Kakko.

Playing Rooney.... and Playing Strome over Kakko is about as bad as it gets. If this was year 2 or 3, Gallant is likely fired.

Coaching needs to be better next season. 5v5 was atrocious. Puck support was atrocious. Puck movement was poor. Getting to the middle of the ice was never a thought... as well as shooting. There needs to be a DYNAMIC CHANGE in philosophy. There needs to be more structure.
