Post-Game Talk: Lightning @ Rangers 2/10/13 "The Adventures of Wade Richards and Rick Gomez"

Anybody think Torts puts Bickel in versus Boston?

He should, just to deal with Lucic.

Though I think he'd probably throw Bickel around like a rag doll. I don't think Asham is up for it from what I've seen from him this season.

Putting Bickel in the lineup isn't going to deter Lucic. The only guy who would potentially "scare the piss" out of him won't be here until next year most likely.

Good game. Hagelin is such a difference maker when he's motoring all over the ice.

Aside from the odd man rushes in the first and the usual line-change **** up they were excellent.

John Scott isn't going to deter Lucic. When you play Boston, you expect dangerous, malicious cheapshots.

You hit back, and play through.

Just got home from the game. Hagelin was flying. Nash looked great. Lundqvist was stellar. The ice looked horrible and while we didn't capitalize on the powerplay, it looked better.

The bad? Gilroy, Richards, and Stepan all looked horribad.

Also Arron Asham ftgdmfw.

The bottom six on the Rangers in the space of a few games has gone from a huige liability to a big asset, thanks to Miller, Kreider, Powe and the return of Callahan, and getting rid of Rupp and Bickel and Boyle. It's a huge reason we're not spending the whole game pinned in our zone three quarters of the time. Our breakouts are much better, which is why we're getting odd man rushes, and forechecking much better (not to mention the penalty kill is tne times better, though the power play still mostly sucks due to overpassing). That is to say, we're looking like a contending team, not an old slow pug team. So no, I don't want to see Bickel, even if he kicks the living s**t out of Lucic.

lolwut? :help:

Gilroy's been very good.

Wonder How much the postponed Tampa game affected them..Solid game at time from us, let's keep it up..

Outside of all of the odd man rushes they gave up in the first, they played a real solid game.

1st period was exciting. 2nd period was okay. 3rd period was just brutal to watch. As much as I love watching the Rangers win games 5-1, that hockey in the third period was a snooze fest.

It was boring, but also encouraging. The Rangers team strength, despite the talent of our top 3 forwards, resides in their D. It what makes them a good team. Controlling the tempo of the play and shutting the other team down is what the New York Rangers are SUPPOSED to be like. We hadn't seen much of it this year. It was a welcome return.

I think we need to tak into account that this big asset performed only against the Isles and the TB awful D and Garon.

Just for some perspective.

IN: Miller, Powe, Gilroy
OUT: Boyle, Rupp, Bickel

Those three moves have completely changed the way this team skates.

Last year they were good because they were tough, physical, and knew the system inside and out, but the team skating was still terrible (as we saw in the playoffs).

Once this group gets the kinks worked out and gels some more, they'll be the Cup contenders everyone expected. They can actually play a puck possession game now if they have to.
