yes, I`m excited - let`s hope he is good enough this year training camp in october! :)

If Andersson makes the opening night roster, I would definitely glue Nash to his hip.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Miller-Hayes-Zuccarello
Vesey-Andersson-Nash
Grabner-Desharnais-Fast (when healthy, whoever else when he's not)

Obviously this is all that is predicated on Andersson showing he's ready and can hang. Give him 9 games in a sheltered 3C role, similar to what Hayes had as a rookie. See if he can hang.

However, AV is still the coach, so it's possible we could waste Andersson's 9 games with him getting little usage and Desharnais getting top 6 minutes. Who knows.

Mostly agree but I would switch Gtabner and Vesey and I dont see AV having faith in Buch on first line

not sure if this is copied over to here already
FYI

i saw andersson live a dozen or so times this past season while visiting family. he's strong as hell and he creates a gap immediately when he gets the puck. my favorite part about him is he has no panic in his game at all, he's 100% cool 100% of the time, reminds me of bergeron in that way. can't stress enough that for a kind of thick kid he makes space with his skating, think he's just a powerful skater, really shoots himself forward. to me, he's a guy that has a high ceiling and high floor as well, he's gonna be an nhl guy it just remains to be seen in what capacity. i like him a lot.

The only negative thing I heard so far about this prospect is that his ceiling might not be too high. This Bergeron comparison seems appropriate on many levels. The type of player who can make a difference in a high presume situation without being considered a top echelon.

I mean, a super high ceiling isn't that important if his floor is high. That's why he was a "safe" pick.

High floor, but not much higher ceiling.

And that's alright.

Idk, I've heard some people saying his ceiling isn't as high as some of the other prospects, but I've heard others say he is a dynamic player who does have a high ceiling. He just also has a high floor, so maybe that influences some of the scouts opinions of him and the high floor becomes their narrative instead of also having a high ceiling. He can have both, he can be a player with a high floor who also has a high ceiling.

I heard Jeff Marek talk about Andersson on the Hockey PDOCast and he was very complimentary of him. Said he is dynamic with the puck, he is a sure fire NHLer and may be ready right out of the gate to contribute in the NHL. The host of the show (Dimitri Filipovic for those who don't listen, check it out if you don't it's the best hockey podcast out there) asked about Craig Button and Pierre mentioning comparisons to Oscar Lindberg and Fast and that kind of took him back. Marek said no way, Andersson's floor is higher than either of those players' ceilings and that was a bad comparison that was probably just made because those players were Rangers (which we all guessed anyway, lazy comments by Pierre really).

Best line for Lias? Kreider-Andersson-Miller. That line would could be so machine like. :)

Buch-Zib-Nash
Grabner-Hayes-Zucc
Kreider-Andersson-Miller
Vesey-DD-Fast

Line 2/3 don't matter under AV, he'll roll with the one that is hot.

KZB has to play together.

Then I think you need a shutdown line with Nash-Miller-Zucc.

Third line can be Vesey-Hayes-Andersson

You could also switch Nash and Andersson, move Andersson up to 2C, move Miller to wing, Nash takes 3RW.

Grabner and Fast have no business in the top 9. Fourth liners.

How could you disagree? If the floor was a generational talent would you really care about the ceiling?
Ok, if we want to take it to comic extremes where there's such thing as a player with a floor of generational talent, I retract my disagreement.

I am a bit torn here. On the one hand it would be great for him to make the team and maybe get some action in the AHL, but Frolunda is not a bad team. The CHL isn't that competitive, but it's a great experience for a young kid to play in different countries. Frolunda is playing games in Austria, France and Switzerland. Maybe even more countries if they reach the knock-out stage. I might go see the CHL games here in Austria.

Going to be exciting to see how he does in camp. If he does well, he should absolutely get the "9 game taste", and if he passes that with flying colors, then i guess that Management really has a decision to make.

But thats a lot of ifs, buts and maybe's.. lets concentrate on the camp first :D

If you have a chance to draft Patrice Bergeron at 7th overall, you draft Patrice Bergeron at 7th overall. 60-70 point two way centers with that kind of clutch potential are rare, incredibly valuable assets. I wouldn't worry about him not having that PPG ceiling; he's exactly what you take at 7th overall.

switch Miller and Grabner. Anderssen apparently has the speed to keep up with Grabner and Miller for a while played well with Hayes.

From a perfect line for Lias POV, Nash would definitely be next in line for me after Kreider/Miller. Andersson is a fast talented complete player. But he wouldn't be uber strong on the puck or skate 8s with it. Whatever line he is in is going to play a fast paced take the puck into traffic line -- that can move the puck really fast in the process. Shoot and execute well.

Kreider and Miller are strong on the puck, and I think that line would have a great arrogant auroa in lack of a better word, and really work the opponents and I also believe that they would develop and find a lot of solutions together. Nash could also help a lot -- although he is pretty narrow minded and I don't think he can adjust that much.

No kidding. If he becomes a Bergeron type player, then the Rangers hit a big time home run drafting him at the 7th overall spot.

While there are similarities to guys like Bergeron, ROR, Drury, etc., I'd be a little hesitant to put the offensive expectations too high with this kid.

Right now, at this stage in his development, I'd say 50 some odd points would be a reasonable ceiling for him. It's not that more production is out of the realm of possibilities, it's just that the more we like a kid the more we start raising expectations a bit higher than we should.

werent his numbers comparable to Backstrom in the SEL?

i'm not saying he'll be a backstrom, since he wont have AO blasting away...but if hes half the offensive player Backstrom is, he'll be a steal for us at 7.
