If Andersson makes the opening night roster, I would definitely glue Nash to his hip.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Miller-Hayes-Zuccarello
Vesey-Andersson-Nash
Grabner-Desharnais-Fast (when healthy, whoever else when he's not)

Obviously this is all that is predicated on Andersson showing he's ready and can hang. Give him 9 games in a sheltered 3C role, similar to what Hayes had as a rookie. See if he can hang.

However, AV is still the coach, so it's possible we could waste Andersson's 9 games with him getting little usage and Desharnais getting top 6 minutes. Who knows.

I'm sure the team will recognize what "rushing the kid" is more than we do.

I don't like how its always considered rushing a player.

It would be rushing a player to have Barron or Sjalin in the lineup.

We don't know if its rushing Andersson. Lets just let this all play out. Chychrun was drafted 16th last year and had a really good season in the NHL.

I was expecting the Rangers would sign Anderson up quickly. I wouldn't mind if they did the same with Chytil--though I think the plan for him is to play another year in the Czech Rep. Andersson may end up in Frolunda but he's got a serious shot at making the Rangers.

I have no desire to rush this kid into the lineup at 18 years old. I don't see that ending well.

They need to see him in training camp first. We have no idea where he's at really or what would be rushing him. I trust Gorton and Clark to make the right call.

Also, he's gonna be 19 a week after the season starts. Bobby Mac and Jeff Marek said Andersson was probably the most NHL ready player in the draft outside of Nico and Nolan.

It's one thing to step into a dysfunctional lineup like the Rangers had when Malhotra made the team and another thing to slot into a clear role on a team with a solid leadership core that has been and should continue to be successful. He's ready physically, and strikes me (in what little I've seen) as the kind of guy who wants to challenge himself.

20 - 93 - 89/19
61 - 13 - 36
10/40 - Andersson - 19/89/26
10/40 - DD - 19/89/26

That's a lineup where you could spread ice time around nicely, and Andersson could play cleanup against weaker competition.

Maybe, but at the same time, I think it's a very tricky situation. It's one thing to rush a kid that isn't developed, but kids can still be hurt from being rushed due to other factors than pure skill development.

The notion has for a long time been that Euros that stay a little longer end up doing better. Many times it's just them coming in when they are more than ready, starting off really well and then building on that. While in the opposite scenario -- you can have a player come in at 18-19 doing perfectly well but kind of never taking off. That can also happen to a kid like say Dylan Larkin. Like Larkin was developed, and talent will never hold him back -- but will he take his offensive game to the next level? Seems like he would have benefited from playing in a bigger more dominating role a little longer. OTOH you can have a Bergeron who was "rushed" but has worked out great.

Just saying, don't think it's a call anyone can be that certain about what's right or wrong.

Best line for Lias? Kreider-Andersson-Miller. That line would could be so machine like. :)

Buch-Zib-Nash
Grabner-Hayes-Zucc
Kreider-Andersson-Miller
Vesey-DD-Fast

Line 2/3 don't matter under AV, he'll roll with the one that is hot.

switch Miller and Grabner. Anderssen apparently has the speed to keep up with Grabner and Miller for a while played well with Hayes.
