I gotta wonder though is it completely hands off or does there come some point where MGMT steps in and says hey having Haley, McKegg, etc play 10 mins a night is not the difference between losing or winning these games, they don't have a long term future here, developing our prospect should have some priority especially while we're rebuilding

Unfortunate. I wanted to like this kid a ton. I think if Gorton is smart which I believe he is, he will use him in a package deal.

I know people will attack me but there is something SERIOUS wrong with something in management if both our top 10 picks from 2017 and 2018 bolted from the team (yes thankfully Krav did some back but he still left).

That is f***ing unacceptable and questions should be asked why this is happening.

I believe that if negotiations with EDM fail, DRW are an alternative. There are some good ties with Lias Group/Västra Frölunda and the DRW organization. Lots of bickering going on. Detroit has a lot of young pieces

I'd be interested to know who gave Dreger this story. Was it the team, or was it Lias' agent? The trade demand going public doesn't benefit the Rangers so I assume it came from Lias' camp.

Gorton should be calling up LA or Detroit to see if they're interested. They were the teams who were very interested in taking Lias that year
I think Lias's father is still a scout in Europe. I could see something there.

I don’t think Gordie deserves as much crap as he’s getting here. The only forwards in the NHL right now from that first round are:

Hischier, Pettersson, Glass, Necas, Suzuki, Chytil, Thomas, Frost

Outside the NHL we have:

Patrick, Andersson, Mittelstadt, Rasmussen, Tippett, Vilardi, Norris, Yamamoto, Vesalainen, Poehling, Bowers, Tolvanen, Kostin

So far it’s not shaping up to be a strong forward draft at all. Less than a handful players after Lias have produced more than he has at the NHL level.

Gordie got 1/2 right and I’m happy with that.

Mcillrath says hello.

They also went off the board with Kratsov, who this coach also had now use for....

Clark and Quinn should be handed their walking papers.

Can't wait to see him flourish elsewhere. @Amazing Kreiderman will.

Lias wasn't given a fair shot after outperforming others in pre-season, his play dipped, he was sent down, and now wants out. It's ugly and makes both the player and the organization look bad. Both sides are to blame here.

We'll see how he recovers from this.

I think both sides are to blame. We were told that Andersson didn’t have a high ceiling but that he was close to nhl ready. To be honest the 2017 draft was fairly weak which was why Arizona was willing to trade the 7th overall pick. We obviously got the 21 overall pick right though. On one hand I felt Lias was never given a long leash or a opportunity to play more time. But he also wasn’t great either. This isn’t quite Mcilrath but it’s a pretty bad look. His trade value is not good. I think we will get more than we did with Mcilrath but still not good

We got Kravtvsov fleeing and Lias now asking to be traded. Either something is foul internally or the kids today are extra selfish.
I personally go with extra selfish....I think both he and Kravtsov thought they were guaranteed a spot on the roster and lots of playing time. I don't agree at all that the Rangers didn't give him a real chance. He just never seemed motivated to grab the opportunities he had

Rangers have had plenty of good draft picks the last few years. Quinn I don't know about. We will see about Kravtsov. Hopefully, he won't be a pansy going forward. The coach for the Pack is a hardazzzzz and that's a good thing. He's weeding guys out quick. Clark and staff are also responsible for scouting Hajek, Fox, DeAngelo, Skjei, Chytil, Shesterkin, Georgiev, Lemieux, etc.... Not sure what happened with Andersson but I believe JD and Gorton will continue to move us in the right direction.

2016 was the 4th overall deal. Rangers wanted Keller. In 2017 they wanted Pettersson.
Got it. I couldn’t remember. Either way, while this sucks it isn’t that big of a deal. Draft picks miss. High draft picks miss.

The Rangers didn’t Andersson any favors. But at the same time, he didn’t do much to help himself.

Find the right trade and move on.

Interesting and a bit of a surprise. Character this character that but not willing to put in the work with the Pack to get back to the NHL? Disappointing. Honestly, call up Edmonton and swap for JP as it's pretty clear both of these players won't be successful with the clubs that drafted them. Always rooted for this kid but this makes that infinitely harder.

One of the first things JD said upon arrival is that he's not one to come in and blow things up so Gorton is getting time and space to do his thing.

JG brought in Drury and a coaching staff that are both completely clueless.

Drury put together the Hartford crew and now 2 top 10 picks both want out within a few months.

JG is also responsible for this scouting staff.

I think the clocks ticking on good ole Jeffrey

Plenty of kids start out on the fourth line and the ones that deserve it move up based on their play. Not gifting a guy a top 9 spot out of the gate because they had a decent preseason is hardly unheard of. Guy literally never did anything of value when the regular season started. Never had a stand out shift. Brendan Smith had multiple stand out shifts. McKegg too. They aren’t more than 4th liners but at some point they made plays. Lias literally never did.

he’s now in the A playing big mins in every spot and honest outside of one good game and it was a good game but outside of one good game he has been a ghost. That’s hard to do when you’re getting the mins he was getting.

It's going to be Andersson for Rasmussen isn't it?

I was going to riot if they took Rasmussen in 2017

I will say this as I’ve said it multiple times I really do wish they had moved him to wing to see if that did anything for him. I think it still might. It’s the only way he gets to the NHL I’m certain of that but I do wish we would have put him on the wing here or in Hartford for a spell

It just gets harder and harder to make the NHL when you're stuck in an imperfect situation. I'm sure Andersson was getting desperate and it's very likely that the Rangers didn't say anything to him that made it sound like things would change any time soon. I've been a hockey fan for well over 50 years. Stuff like this happens all the time in sports. Heck, the Dodgers were going to trade Jackie Robinson to the Giants! It was before my time, but my father never got over that (and the Dodgers moving).

I do think Andersson can play in the NHL. The situation is going to play out with some other team.

The Duke has bounced around like five teams now? Had attitude problems historically. And now he's on pace to score 40.

On the other hand, ever since JD was hired, there’s been a sense of urgency to everything the Rangers have done that wasn’t there before
