Meh, probably the best solution, neither side seemed to be helping each other at this point
It was a video posted at some point during Traverse city, I believe at the end of the tournament.
Chytil was injured and Lias was getting the 1C minutes and he didn't impress. Clark gave an interview to the media about the prospects at the end of the tournament, was asked about Lias, and he said somethings to the effect of "I don't know if Lias is tired or something but he played terrible" and he reiterated it and didn't look happy.
The video was only up for a short time, and it got pulled pretty quickly. I remember it at the time I thought it was incredibly harsh for Clark to say publicly. Which is why I assume the Rangers PR pulled the video and never put it back up.
Maybe I'm missing something but I know @Kovalev27 saw it as well
What’s annoying is that we really could have used someone like Lias, had he panned out.
What has Yzerman accomplished?
We let an Islander double-agent choose our 7 OA pick? Fire everyone!Scout was Anders Kallur
Lias himself pushed for this though, he wanted to come over ASAP. In hindsight likely a very bad decision, he was having a great D+1 in Sweden and was the best player on the silver medal WJC team - then everything immediately started to fall apart in NA and got progressively worse.my complaint would be that it seems that the Rangers pushed too hard for these high round picks to come over early. Andersson was pulled out of Sweden in the middle of his D+1 season instead of staying there and developing, maybe even needing another year. Chytil, Kravtsov...a bit different considering their circumstances but sometimes these kids need more time to grow as people before making such a big jump.

Excellently said. There is a lot to unwrap here.
Lias has no business asking for a trade at this juncture of his career. He has done nothing to provide reason for asking for a trade. He has not produced. He has not been effective at the AHL level. He is only 20 years old. Being 20 does not mean you automatically get to be in the NHL. Or because you were a top 10 pick. You have to earn it.
Now for the team side of things. There is a ton of blame to be placed on Quinn. A ton. Because Lias was not awful as far as play goes during Training Camp or Preseason. Howden, however, was and has continues to be so. And until recently Howden was still getting 3rd line minutes which was inexcusable. Now lets move past Howden for a second. The 4th line has been a black hole for this team. You have guys like Brendan Smith getting time there. Haley as well. The team defense has been a disaster all year. And while one player wont fix that, Lias is a good player defensively AND should certainly be getting ice time over Smith. Even Howden. Howden should be in the AHL.
So the blame goes both ways. But no way should this kid be asking for a trade. He just lost my respect and should lose the respect of the fan base. This is not what someone with “character” and a strong “work ethic” does. This is what an entitled kid does. Because he has a lot of work to do to become an NHLer. Not even a star NHLer, just an NHLer.
Very disappointing.
So many overreactions in this thread. This is not a major blemish on JG or anything. That is absolutely ridiculous.
Isn’t that the draft we hade a deal in place for fourth overall? Isn’t that the draft where it was reported 1st and 2nd choices at 7th overall were taken at 5 and 6?
The pick that could actually impact Gorton would be if Kravtsov busts. I don’t think he will fwiw, but that would be a significantly bigger blemish on JG’s tenure with the rangers than the Andersson pick will ever be.
That was 2016. I remember there were rumors about trading with Dallas in 2017 but the deal in place was for 4th in 2016 if Columbus took Puljujarvi at 3rd, they didn’t, no tradeSo many overreactions in this thread. This is not a major blemish on JG or anything. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Just to follow up on this, an article from a Swedish outlet wrote a piece in September 2017 and it references the video. It's not Clark's entire quote but it's a piece of itThanks I appreciate that summary. The Rangers PR is a fairly savvy bunch. Very image conscious, as any PR team should be. I got a feeling that the next few months is going to be a bit more challenging for the PR team.
It would have been a more honorable move for the video to stay up. Transparency breeds accountability.
Would love to see more of that than content that reeks of a corporate bleaching effort.
Following the New York Rangers effort in the Traverse City rookie tournament earlier this month, he was criticized for his play. This is after the team lost three of four matches and only managed with five goals ahead. Andersson had an assist in the four games and that did not impress Rangers player manager Gordie Clarke.
"He had a very average camp. He may be tired or something, but he will need to step up when the real camp starts", Clarke's judgment sounded when he was interviewed by MSG Network after the tournament.
2 ECF and 1 SCF appearances, you know, the same exact thing that this fanbase hangs its hat about as the height of our success of the last 25 years.
Edit: 3 losses in the ECF actually, forgot about Boston in 2011
