Lias Andersson segment is coming up on the NHL Now..

Im watching it Now and here’s the thing that’s happening during this segment and everywhere. everyone is looking at the medal toss in hindsight and linking that to what he just did and it’s a giant red flag.

The kid is a combined minus 53 as a North American pro. He’s done nothing. There’s not going to be a lot of love for him out there. They’re also doing the other thing we all are doing. Comparing him to Chytil who went to the A and dominated. He didn’t.

You're being a dick for no reason.

We're not even that far off. We both used Cally as a comparable. First post? Hell yea it was hyperbole. I let out frustration bc it's infuriating to see this supposed hard working leader quit when we all can see he sucks as an overall NHL player. I felt like letting loose in that post bc it's fun with some VERY obvious hyperbole and you took it all literally. I dialed it back big time trying to be fair and in my last post I lamented that, yes. I feel like it's debatable that he has NHL level talent AT THE MOMENT. I didn't say he'd never have it. I bring up all those attributes where he's clearly lacking. But I get this response?
You don't even discuss why I'm wrong to list any of those attributes. you give me an eye roll? I didn't shit on YOUR opinion, I didn't even disagree with it. I brought up how I feel like it could be debatable that those attributes are NHL level right now. What is so wrong about saying that?

I mean in the broader NHL community Lias is still remembered as captain of Sweden’s WJC who tossed his silver medal. This act was pretty divisive at the time (from the character perspective with arguments on both sides) but given the recent developments it becomes less defensible. To me it’s water under the bridge at this point. My red flags are how he performed when he was sent to Hartford last season, how he stopped responding when he wasn’t promoted over Howden early on this season, and again how he performed when he was sent to Hartford this season. This culminated in the completely insane trade request. It is completely unacceptable due to the fact that he had the first row seat to Chytil’s situation and Kravtsov situation.

This is where there’s a difference to me between him and Kravtsov. The Russian made essentially one error in judgement as a teenager who just moved into unfamiliar across the world, but who within weeks got himself back into organization’s fold and back on track for his development.

Andersson definitely should have known better.

Why can’t you START with a measured post instead of what you call a “hyperbole” (I’d call it something else). Because I’m weary that you would switch back to “hyperbole” in your very next post.

If the Rangers dont loan him somewhere, his only option would be the KHL correct?
KHL and NHL have an understanding that they honor contracts. Since he's under contract to the Rangers he can't go to the KHL. If he became a RFA, he wouldn't be considered under contract and he would therefore be able to sign elsewhere.

Personally I think The Medal Toss is a nothingburger. What is happening now is something that has been brewing. What happened with the medal is just a split second reaction. I don’t think it has any deep meaning.

He's frustrated. The one thing I blame him for is that he let this bad experience affect his game.
I hope you’re right and he actually has the talent to make it. But if so, he has spent about a calendar year stewing and playing poorly. He can certainly turn it around but- wow- that’s a lot of negative thinking on Lias’ part.

A teenager moving across the pond, without family, without friends. Not everyone handles that well.

I suspect he’ll eventually get over the emotional stuff - as a Ranger or elsewhere. I’m just saying, I hope that, once he does, he has the game to make it.

when? what was the record?

Long distance throwing.
