Do they serve alcohol and food in Canadian movie theatres?

We have some places that are 18+ and they do that

Food yes, alcohol no. At least not in Quebec, that I've ever seen.

Do they actually have alcohol in US movie theaters? What could possibly go wrong.

In Cineplex 10-30, they have a side theater 18+ with alcohol and "better food"

Definitely had something to do with the break-up of my latest/last relationship with a woman. Can't even stand to hear when the Hallmark movies are on and she loved them!?

Did you ever buy your ex, oversized coffee mugs? I think it might be a source of irreconcilable differences. :D

Interesting, I didn't know that. Sounds like I've been missing out on a whole lot.

Yes, some do. Some have restaurants and you can have an aperitif and a starter in the restaurant and have the main course and a bottle of wine in the theatre. I don't know if you can order shots and stronger booze but I have had beers and wine. Most don't.

In HK there were rooms with only 12 seats. Pretty much just 6 small sections with 2 electronically big barcaloungers and a small table attached in between. You'd have a small lamp attached to the seats, a waitress button, free flow drinks and chips/popcorn/nuts/candies, blankets, and a dining menu as well as a full bar and wine bottle service.
That was so awesome.

Now that’s a catered service.

What did a ticket typically cost?

It had completely escaped me that Amazon was filming a Lord of the Rings TV series right now in New Zealand.

$1 Billion, huh?

Jeeze, the actor (first image on the left) they chose to play Talion is just like the character in the video game of the same story.

Holiday season....under lockdown.
Here's a couple of things that will come out:

December 17th: The stand
Limited series based on the book of Stephen King with a different ending (wrote by King)
Good cast, coming out on CBS all access (might be on other platform too, not sure)

December 23rd: The midnight sky
A space journey movie with Goerge Clooney and Felecity Jones. Coming out on Netflix

December 25th: Wonder Women 1984
In theater, on Crave Tv and HBOmax

December 27th: Death to 2020
A dark comedy TV- special we don't know much about yet. Made by the creator of Black Mirror.
Samuel L. Jackson is in it....expected to be one of the most watched Netflix originals.

Oooooooooh... looks even better than the old one, with what looks like a deeper narrative. Been years since I've picked-up the integral version to read it again. It's in French though. I've never read the English version.

I'll definitely watch it as soon as it comes out.

Wonder if they'll link it to Dark Tower, as Flag is supposed to be the same as the man in the tower.

Major thanks for the heads up.

The only thing worse than the person sitting beside you showing up with a tray of food are the non stop talking people. Both absolutely ruin the show.

Was a time you could bring in things, whatever, even smoke.

I remember smoking a cig in London when I watched Young Frankenstein, probably more than one cig actually. Cigarette smoke is horrendous, The other night Cactus Jack said hello to a neighbor who is a smoker and I had to spray him afterwards with air freshener because his head smelled like an ashtray. Gee, I used to smoke 60 a day, especially when it was really stressful at the train traffic control.. Imagine, we did smoke at work, didn't give a thought about non smokers. In the morning the first thing I did before even leaving the bed was having a cig. Of course now at my age the first thing is to run to the bathroom but then I reached for the pack and the lighter. :)

So long as the show doesn’t suddenly break out in song...

I will never ever like to watch a musical or an opera. Throughout the years different girlfriends have dragged me to musicals in different cities and I have always hated it.

I actually do enjoy some musicals. Grease is one of my favorite musicals of all time, as is Hairspray. I did enjoy The Greatest Showman as well. I've never seen a live musical, uh, live, but I did watch Hamilton when it came out on Disney+.

Some musicals, modern ones like La La Land and classics like Phantom and Les Mis, I never got into. You'd have to force me to try to sit through Cats.

My snarky comment was more about LOTR books where those hobbits seem to sing like every 3rd page. It's been a long time since I've read the books, but that was what I remembered lol.

Some airports still have smoking rooms...its beyond nasty, even for me who'll occasionally smoke when I drink.

Funny that you mention Young Frankenstein as I thinking of that exact movie when thinking about smoking during a movie. Went to it with and elder brother and some of his friends at a midnight showing and hardly anyone in there and before you know it,hear caps being popped off and start smelling sweetness. It was mid 70's and the staff was the typical pimply faced high school nerds and geeks, what they gonna do? I was like the tiniest of the bunch at the time, barely 6 foot and 200lbs, kind of an intimidating group of hooligans.

That's a lot of smokes there and then! Rivaling Bogie?Never cared for the smell that lingers either but the the most critical of the smoke are ex smokers.
