His adoption page said shepherd and hound. I can believe that but I am pretty sure he is also boxer and pitbull. When he yawns or open his mouth you can see the rounded pit cheeks plus the fact that he was probably bred to fight and they use pitbulls for that. Hound because the way he tracks and sniffs the ground is very hound like, very close to the ground, almost sampling it. One guy at the dog park though he was Rhodesian Ridgeback because he has got some really nice swirls of fur and those are hounds as well. He is the nicest dog I have ever met. he just wants to say hello to all humans and dogs. The picture below shows his pit cheeks. His foster mom said she thought he was a bit pit and she should know, she has 5 of them. I have tried to play rough with him and when I did that with old Snoop my hands looked very scratchy, this guy stops as soon as your skin touches his teeth. He is a muscular SOB, a very fast runner. Very athletic. He totally controls me. Couldn't sleep last night, at 3 AM we had pancakes. That reminds me, he just started talking a bit, that means it is time to walk him.

Reminds me of Boerboel (South Africa). Nice dog you have there. Got a newfie myself.
