In HK there were rooms with only 12 seats. Pretty much just 6 small sections with 2 electronically big barcaloungers and a small table attached in between. You'd have a small lamp attached to the seats, a waitress button, free flow drinks and chips/popcorn/nuts/candies, blankets, and a dining menu as well as a full bar and wine bottle service.
That was so awesome.

Sweet! kind of a little anti-social though, defeats the purpose of going to a movie, but nice to have the options. Certainly can relate though, prefer flying on 747's and sitting upstairs, less people, quieter, better service.

Can't remember who mentioned/recommended Warrior but it's a solid show. Halfway through and it's been enjoyable

Probably where I discovered Aaron Eckhart, I liked that movie so much (very underrated?)

Unfortunately for me, I first remember seeing him in The Core, *blech*

Don't know if Thank You For Smoking is actually underrated or just unknown by most. It didn't catch a whole lot of publicity, probably due to its content.

I actually do enjoy some musicals. Grease is one of my favorite musicals of all time, as is Hairspray. I did enjoy The Greatest Showman as well. I've never seen a live musical, uh, live, but I did watch Hamilton when it came out on Disney+.

Some musicals, modern ones like La La Land and classics like Phantom and Les Mis, I never got into. You'd have to force me to try to sit through Cats.

My snarky comment was more about LOTR books where those hobbits seem to sing like every 3rd page. It's been a long time since I've read the books, but that was what I remembered lol.

Never like musicals, normally I could not even pass the 20 minutes mark before being bored to death.....but there's always an exception and for me it's Rock of Ages, but it's all about the nostalgia and the old classic they used than the movie itself.

But as for LOTR, they are supposed to keep it close to the books, so I'm sure there will have some song here and there.

Was a time you could bring in things, whatever, even smoke.
Went to a movie in Toronto - 10-15 years ago - with Thai / Malaysian takeout. Outside food was allowed ... one of those old school one-screen cinemas. Laid back atmosphere.

the movie was Nosferatu, with the soundtrack provided by Nash the Slash who was performing live in the front corner of the theatre.

I'm assuming there has been discussions about it already, but anyone watched Tenet?

I'm personally genuinely surprised at how bad it was. Didn't even care to finish it, but I'm assuming there was some payoff in the end.

Stereotypical Russian bad guy with a convoluted plot and an astonishingly bad lead actor (seriously, some of the worst acting and script I've seen in a major blockbuster in recent memory). It's a bit like Inception, if Inception sucked.

I wouldn't mind if they made it bigger with more people in it, it's more about having some real comfort, the free flow and extra food/drinks.
You have to be comfortable watching a movie...defies the purpose otherwise imo.

Denzel Washington's son

I quite like Denzel though, even if he always seems to play the same role.

He's literally Denzel Washington's son.
Oh..totally misread that. I thought he just wrote Denzel Washington, suggesting he's a terrible lead.

My avatar shows Steve McQueen from the movie Bullit. Sometimes when this movie is on tv they mention McQueen and Robert Duvall, who have a very small role in the movie. He is just the cab driver who tells Bullit where the man went and where he made a phone call. They should mention Jacqueline Bisset or Robert Vaughn who plays more minutes in the movie. And maybe Simon Oakland his police chief or even Don Gordon or Norman Fell. Just because Duvall became a famous actor is why he is credited before the other ones.

But for a while I was thinking the chief was Claude Akins instead of Simon Oakland. There is a reason why, they look the same and the had about the same age. If you search their names on google you will find their pictures are mixed sometimes.

Orange Crate Art: Separated at birth

What I disliked the most about Tenet is the antagonist.
Not the actor though and not how the character behaves either, but simply (unless there's a sequel with some explanation) his motivations -if I die, everyone dies-... now come on, It'd be believable if it was someone with ultimate power, losing that power, sure, but that's not what he has, what he is given, he's simply being used by those in the future who want to roll back time/reality. Since they never explain his actual pact with those of the future, and the fact that he dies, why the hell would they use him anyway if they knew? This villain is full of holes, incomplete on purpose, either because there's a follow-up story, or because he's just a plot device to center a conspiracy on, without having to create an adequate backstory.

That's an oldie, creepy movie. Haven't seen Nash the slash since he opened for Gary Numan in 78? Did anyone know who he was? still all wrapped up?

For sure it would be great if seats were more comfortable, but more or less you know what you're gonna get going to a movie. Of course it's the movie that in the end is what it's all about. Seen enough garbage movies where I'd prefer to get held up and just lose my money quickly instead of the long drawn out waste of time that happens all too often.

I just finished the 1st episode of The Flight Attendant. Looks promising, although I'm in no rush for the next one.

That's encouraging to hear at least. Can't even get through 1 episode sometimes and never go back unless it has a pedigree and give it another episode. The recent version of Fargo was one that I had to give up,a shame as the other season were fine but now it seems like a joke by the brothers that just can put any pile of crap out there and people will mop it up it and give it all sorts of accolades.
