Yea first I didn't think the resolution was that great for the lead characters.

But my main issue is more an obvious one, It's been a while since I've seen it so my memory is sketchy but the whole filming of the fight and showing it to the World and this sort of "revealing" the existance of super-heroes, I didn't buy at all. Because since this is a World based on reality, if it was today, most people would think it's a Hollywood movie and would laugh it off.

I was hoping for something a little more subtle as an ending like the woman who hunted them down with the secret organization is hunted down herself at the end by this organization because by her participation in these events she sort of became a super-villain herself. You could even show her entering a comic-book shop and then coming into a trance like Mr. Glass in the first movie and then she grabs a comic....

Oh gawd ive seen too many movies. I predicted she's be a villain in the movie. The second I saw the trailer and her red hair, it's too symbolic (christianity), especially with Kevin being an alter personality called the Beast, her own name being "Ellie".

Even with the bad reviews I can't wait to see it as I didnt make the time to go see it in theatre.

I don’t disagree with you on both points. The end fight didn’t have a big enough audience to really go viral and yeah, seeing that on YouTube would look like a hoax.

I also half expected the character you are referring to would be “removed” as well at the end.

It’s just frustrating because the ending really opened up a possibility of more stories but this is it. Glass ended the trilogy.

Anyhow, I’m still peeved how it ended for one. It’s like Han Solo getting head shotted by a random Stormtrooper.

Why would it lool like a hoax when people are already aware who they are. Both Glass and Kevin were already well known to the public, especially Kevin as he was the most recent and his condition was probably publicized to the public . It's not like people were watching two unknown figures.

Glass didn’t have “cinematic” powers, so we’ll discount him. Kevin was a known serial killer with DID, but I don’t think his Beast-mode super powers were known at all. When he and David threw down, it was mostly feats of strength. IMO, if you were to make a YouTube video, that’d be easiest to fake.

Within the context of the story, sure, the movie ended where the word was out that there were gifted people and I would guess the movie implied the general public believed the videos. That said, as the movie was grounded in reality, in real life, I would think the footage would look like a university super hero film. This was my point as a society, we’d be really skeptical about it as there was essentially no witnesses.

Still, if I recognize the face of the serial killer, I'd hold off laughing and thinking it's a hoax, and im someone who is extremely skeptical.

Guess ill have to see it for myself to know.

Also... Dunn is in the psych ward with them. I have no clue how he got there. I have to ask, wasnt he also known by the public after his arrest?

Sorry if some of the movie was spoiled for you here but yea it was obvious that she was the villain. It is revealed more clearly about that in the middle but there is something at the end with her that I would have done differently.

I've tried my best to keep my comments spoiler free, but it is explained as to why he is there. Obviously, suspension of belief is needed as Dunn doesn't fit the profile of the other two, but yeah, there is a reason (outside of plot convenience) he is there.

In regards to David being known to the masses, again, without spoiling too much, the public knows less about David Dunn and Kevin than you might expect. I'll sorta leave it at that.

Finally, without spoiling, the trailers shows bits of the final fight between David and Kevin. If we had seen a video in 4K quality with perfect camera angles, maybe we'd recognize the two of them. From the movie perspective though, this isn't like watching the Battle of New York in Avengers where there were millions present and all kinds of footage. Let's just say that for Glass, within the context of the movie, the footage IMO could be interpreted as not credible if I were to base it on quality of filming. Plus, there were only a few witnesses to everything at the end. My guess is less than 5 people saw everything start-to-end.

The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst: 7.8/10

true detective season 3: Great acting, average story. 7.5/10

The Jinx was amazing, so much better than making a murderer, the ending is just such a great pay off

Agreed on True detective, it was miles better than season 2, Ali and Dorf were incredible, but the story could of amounted to a bit more

I've been re-watching first 11+ seasons (some of season 12 shouldn't be on this list for obvious reasons) of Parts Unknown once again. The original thought was to try and rank all ~100 episodes from best to worst as I see them. It's proving to be a gargantuan task sadly, even with cliff notes I am taking while consuming each episode. The list is so vast that I'm having trouble identifying the exact order. Perhaps I will do top 50 instead, not yet sure.

I can't help but think what Bourdain might have said if he'd have seen someone apply himself so diligently at studying a huge part of his legacy.

He came across as quite irreverent but would have probably been flattered by it even if he wouldn't probably admit to it. I can imagine one of his patented chuckles as a sign of approval.

It's impressive that you're undertaking such a monumental endeavor without an end game other than what I assume is a personal passion. Perhaps, given the extent to which you are applying yourself, you may want to consider expanding your horizons beyond this site for such purpose. If I were that invested in Bourdain's work, I'd probably consider starting a blog or a podcast and seek to find out how and how much he touched the lives of those who enjoyed what he offered.

Kudos to you on your efforts.

I somehow decided to watch Rectify again. I had seen it a while back but had forgotten several parts so it felt fresh to revisit it.

It's very unique in that its pace is so slow, yet it manages to hold your attention. It's got a little of that "slow burn" quality we've seen associated with other series. There is plenty of small town life and southern charm but not so much that it isn't relatable.

Aden Young, the actor who plays the lead character Daniel, is tailor made for the role.

Sorry to say, but casino is overrated as hell...the most memorable part about that movie was Sharon Stone

If I had to rank those 4, it would go like this:

Hobbit 1
John Wick
Thor
Casino

John Wick a better movie than casino, really?
I found both john wick movies so bad, no story just useless violence

John Wick movies are really good.

I thought the first one was bad, couldnt finish the second one. Really not my type of movie. Ultra violent with little to no story at all.
To put John Wick ahead of a Scorcese movie is down right blasphemous
But to each his own as they say.

I wouldnt put it ahead of these movies but going to a John Wick movie and expecting a story is like going to a Avengers movie and expect realism.

I knew what kind of movie it was. Of course I was not expecting an oscar worthy script but just to put violence for the sake of it. Its not my cup of tea.

True Detective Season 3: Rode on the coattails of Season 1.

The way the plot was revealed in the final episode just seemed a little too neat and tidy. A disappointing shortcut.

I want to start a new series.

How good is Altered Carbon?

Any suggestion?
I liked altered carbon, Billions is good. Just finished watching The Umbrella Academy. It was good as well just took a few episodes to start enjoying it.

I’m probably going to start Shameless soon.

I made the mistake of watching Shameless and couldn't stop. It's totally engrossing and takes you places you've never imagined. It's got elements of drama and comedy sprinkled throughout. It's very appropriately referred to as a "dramedy".

Best tip: don't start it on a weekday. :D
