OT: Let's Remember Some Guys

Mr. Pronger’s ankles still haven’t recovered after Dawes dangled through him.
I will never forget that. One of those memories seared into my brain!

Has this thread spoke about this absolute stud, Matt Maccarone? I went to a preseason game just to see him on the bench.

Petit and Marios were both rugged customers who had decent careers and never gave an inch on the ice . We could use a guy like them these days for the long playoff haul . The big question is though how mobile would those guys be in the league today ? Probably not as efficient as they likely were back in the day . These guys added excitement to every game....just drop the gloves and GO on the drop of a dime .

All you people are forgetting Miloslav Horava in my opinion.

I always felt the same way about Lucien Deblois
Could you imagine if this board existed in the 70s? How hard would the griping be when they passed on Mike Bossy TWICE to take Duguay and Deblois and then the guy scored 50 every year. Literally every night there would be a thread about it.

Horova was pretty much what Libor Hajek is now (now what he was hyped to be) back in the late-80s. He scored a really big goal against the Devils (Terreri) from what I remember.

The Rangers and Oilers made a few fairly big trades in those days, and Horova was part of the return for Ruotsaolainien after Ted Sator chased him out of NY. Horova was a mediocre third pair DMan.The Rangers D from the like 1988-1991 was always Leetch, Patrick, and a usually four acceptable vets (Petit, Hardy, Shaw, Moller, Cirella). It wasn't until Beuk came back for Shaw that their D started beefing up.

Petit was part of the Quebec crew the Esposito brought in along with Randy Moller and John Ogrodnick (yes I know Johnny O is mostly associated as a Red Wing).

If we're remembering Horava, we've got to remember Igor Liba as well, (& Ludek Cajka).
If we're remembering Horava, we've got to remember Dean Kennedy and Ken Hammond. All 3 wore #6 for ~25 games in same season.

The Hockey News couldn't even sort them out right, for a front cover photo.

At Athletic, DownGoesBrown/Sean McIndoe did one his odd topic columns

Make up a best team of guys who played NHL games with the org (ar least) twice, with NHL games elsewhere in between

Lots of Fs for NYR (Mess, Kovy, Nedved, Duguay Kurtenbach, Balon, Dom Moore [ mckegg, ... vesey??

But he only came up 2 D - Joe Cooper pre-WWII, and Mike McMahon, early '60's then 1 game ~'70

My first reaction was gotta missing some guys, but can't think of any (yet)

Also, only G was Soetart

Maybe you guys recall any other D or G?

Thanks
