OT: Let's Remember Some Guys

At Athletic, DownGoesBrown/Sean McIndoe did one his odd topic columns

Make up a best team of guys who played NHL games with the org (ar least) twice, with NHL games elsewhere in between

Lots of Fs for NYR (Mess, Kovy, Nedved, Duguay Kurtenbach, Balon, Dom Moore [ mckegg, ... vesey??

But he only came up 2 D - Joe Cooper pre-WWII, and Mike McMahon, early '60's then 1 game ~'70

My first reaction was gotta missing some guys, but can't think of any (yet)

Also, only G was Soetart

Maybe you guys recall any other D or G?

Thanks
Only guys I can think of that come close are Strudwick and Valiquette, who played for European teams between Ranger stints.

Not only did Martin Rucinsky do this once, playing with StL after his first stint as a Ranger, he did it again for a second time, going to Vancouver and then coming back the next year.

Bumping this after a stupid loss to throw out this name:

Johan Lindbom

I know he ended up going back to Sweden, but curious what happened after that. His Swedish career ended very quickly all things considered.

Long time fan since 1989. There are many names that come to mind. Heck just the 03-04 roster alone contains at least 10 them that you immediately ask "Who?"

Most obscure things I've seen from obscure players.....

Jeff Toms, an AHL caliber talent with size, as a fill in winger for Fleury on the FLY line, records a hat trick in the 01-02 season versus the Bruins.

Vladimir Vorobiev, a middling prospect, has a 4 point night on the Messier Graves line. Apparently Messier was not a fan and he only played in a handful of games.

Rumun Ndur once scored a goal for the Rangers.

Dale Purinton was a Top 6 defenseman for 2 seasons.

NHL ready prospects were once considered to be the likes of Johan Witehall, Jan Mertzig, Christian Dube, Josef Balej, and Corey Hirsch.

Keep all of those in perspective when criticizing our current team made up of young talent, draft and trade fleeces, and mostly strong FA signings.

Just going to throw out some random players that still give me a chuckle:

Matt Puempel, Jeff Woywitka (witnessed his only Ranger goal in person), Enver Lisin, Justin Falk (not to be confused with Faulk), Ondrej Pavelec, Ales Kotalik, Dmitry Kalinin, Kris Newbury (played an elimination playoff game over healthy scratch Brad Richards. Thanks Torts!) and last but not least Jayson Megna who is somehow currently on an NHL roster

hated the Lisin deal from the git-go.
Classic sell-high by 'Yotes after his just 13-8-21.

Torts swept out too many from bottom 6, heading into his first full season behind the bench - Betts, Sjostrom, Lauri
Lisin played 57 NHL games in his only subsequent NHL season,
Korpi went on to play 541 more NHL games (+22 playoffs)

Did Rochefort get hurt in that tournament and never quite recovered ? I seem to remember him as damaged goods when NY got him.....something along those lines....
sorry, can't help here, by early '90's had 2 young kids, and my attention to off-ice stuff, and my memory overall for NYR-related stuff, has been inconsistent ever since ...

Ken Gernander
Dave Karpa
Bruce Driver
Maxim Kondratiev
David Desharnais
Chris and Peter Ferraro
Bobby Sanguinetti

Cory Cross, not to be confused with Corey Potter
Mackenzie Skapski -- interestingly born on June 15, 1994, the day after the Cup win

Johan Witehall--legitimately though we had a guy named John Whitehall and they were different players

Zdeno Ciger

Per Djoos

”Pear Juice”
Always a bit annoyed that both Rico Fata and Pascal Dupuis were both Rangers who went on to Pittsburgh and had better performance there as support plugs. Fata was faster than Kreider in a straight heat.
