OT: Let's Remember Some Guys

We have a bunch of young D in the organization...who do we have hired to tutor them ?

I like Steve Smith hire for Hartford
... actually wouldn't mind him having a few weeks w K and Nils

Not dissing Murphy, he had good career and long tenured as coach,
just that Smith had a very different focus to earning a long career and some Cups

Today Pack played the all kids D w Bitetto out -
Jones, Schneider, Robertson, Rarmo, Skinner, plus Giutarri*

AND won big

*AHL deal, w less than 30 games pro, following 4 years ECAC/Brown, into '20

I remember Bernie Nicholls, who was our first legit scorer in some time when he got here only to be flipped for Mark Messier.

Right on ..I was not aware it was Smith in the A . He fits what I was wanting .

I met and got my junior hockey jersey signed by Ulf Samuelson in Monmouth County NJ at a charity event while he was playing for the Rangers in the mid 90's, I have a picture with him, but its a photograph, I have to get it onto the computer one of these days. He was really cool, had a really heavy accent, but he was very nice and patient with the fans and treated everyone great.

Corey Hirsch, the Rangers goaltender who was supposed to be Richters backup or the heir to his throne one day and it just didn't work out...

I remember Petrovicky being on the team but I don't remember him getting time on PP1. I think I've just repressed most memories from that era. Too bad Bure's career ended early. Would have been interesting to see him play in 2005-2006 with the obstruction crackdown and two line pass penalty removed.

An OT post in an OT thread, didn't we have a Cars OT thread? Seached but couldn't find it lol.

John Mitchell, who is not to be confused with the hair care products guy

Ian Laperriere

IIRC, Mitchell won the early OT FO, back to Staal, for the winner in the Richards last second tying Caps playoff game.
And played well w Hags in Hags' first month

Pepi was what we recently hoped Lemieux would be,
IiRC, lost in that ugh terrible Norstrom trade

Remembering Ted Hampson who played with the Rangers from 1960-63. I didn't realize his Rangers connections as I got into hockey and cards around the initial expansion era so I missed his time as a blueshirt but do remember him with the Red Wings, Seals and Golden Seals and North Stars. He was the second winner of the Masterton trophy as well!
