Curt Bennett is a name that Dave Maloney would probably not want to hear. Bennett played briefly for the Rangers and ended up on the Atlanta Flames and went on to a pretty decent career. In Maloney's rookie season he crosschecked Bennett who meanwhile was engaged with another player. After Bennett broke away from the player though he skated straight towards an unsuspecting Maloney and suckered him--leaving him knocked out cold on the ice with a broken nose and concussion.

I was at that game. Bennett wasn't thrown out of the game. I forget if he got a minor or major but the Rangers didn't score on the power play. But what I remember best was Randy Beverly meekly grabbing Bennett right after he hit Maloney and not even trying to fight him. Not one Ranger went at Bennett for revenge that entire game.

I well remember that OT goal against the Habs. I think the Rangers had tied it up very late, perhaps in the last minute, on a goal by Ratelle (I think).
I think it was Bruce Mac Gregor who scored that goal with the goalie pulled.

Ron Harris was one of the toughest ever….the only guy I ever saw who won a fight decisively while on his back and punching up….

Me too. Mobile type player and puck mover
Yeah, he seems like one of those guys who maybe would have had a better chance in today's NHL. I mean being an undrafted D who converted from F in college, playing 100+ NHL games is still impressive. Seems like he could have maybe done more, though.

Bryce Lampman

Randomly remembered this guy

Also, Jason Muzzatti and Jamie McLellan

I dunno where else to post this. I was looking at the career of Ray Shepard and it’s pretty good. Makes me wonder why he was bounced around so much?
Buffalo trading him to the Rangers for a $1 was always odd to me. His rookie season numbers are great too. I recall him being a PP beast.

I’m assuming the issue were injuries ? Looks like he only played 1 full NHL season and that season he went over 90pts.

Ryan Vandenbussche mentioned above wasn't big but he was as tough as Domi or McPhee. He knocked down Stu Grimson. A lot of his fights were real wars and often against much bigger guys. PJ Stock was really really tough as well.

He had attitude issues was my understanding. Was happy to get out of NY and go to Detroit. Then off to Florida.

I really though Pöck was going to be a solid player.

I remember they signed him out of college and he scored a goal his first game. Him, Jozef Balej, and Fedor Tyutin being promoted as the future at one point.

I went to a Rangers-Bruins matinee game in March 2007 which was snoozefest. Pock scored one of the ugliest goals I've ever seen with under a minute left to tie the game and the Rangers won in the shootout. Next day they beat the Islanders on the way to the 6th seed that season.
