Barnaby is my favorite. I was at this game that I'm posting and it might have been the most amazing thing I ever saw at a hockey game.
The Barnaby - Lyle Odeline moment remains one of the funniest things I have ever seen or read about in hockey.

Tony DeAngelo

At the time I really thought it would be more important for the Rangers to try to develop him rather than play McQuaid or Smith, I kind of still do.

I'm not the biggest fan of fighting but that was a lot of fun. I feel like a lot of people that romanticize fighting, think about fights like this, but they're pretty rare. At least in the last 20 years. That was fun to watch. Watch two goons give each other noogies not so much.

The fights were pretty good until the NHL neutered them. By Y2k, the fights were basically side shows, which consisted of bear hugging until they got tired or somone tripped.

I give Garth Snow credit, he’s been a POS at most things he’s done in his adult life.

If nothing else, he’s consistent.

Sabres were also rebuilding around that time and had Hughes , May , Ray , Boogey Man Boughner and Barnaby...you did not take any liberties with Hasek or any of the kids . Those games were a lot of fun to watch . I forget the game but I recall Ruff sending out 5 goons one per shift and they all fought off the FO ....pretty sure it was Ottawa or Flyers...was a wild game .

I haven't seen that brawl in years. I remember that happening and talking about it on an AOL Hockey chat room. If that was in the 70's both benches and the stands would have emptied on to the ice.

The good old days.

This year was John Davidson's first year in the booth with Jim Gordon and Phil Esposito. His voice was so different. JD went to HNIC in Canada the following season.

Dave Maloney got smoked.

Look at Steve Larmer starting trouble. The Hawks had a few guys who became GM's. Doug Wilson and Darryl Sutter. Bob Murray too. Wilson could really shoot the puck.

I remember watching this that night and going crazy. Christmas vacation from grammar school.
